【PCauto】On January 7th, during the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), "Sony Honda Mobility," a collaborative initiative between Sony and Honda, officially introduced its inaugural model under the AFEELA brand — the AFEELA 1.

The AFEELA 1 has two configurations available:

  • AFEELA 1 Origin, priced at USD 89,900
  • AFEELA 1 Signature, priced at USD 102,900

Reservations for the AFEELA 1 have commenced, with a booking fee of USD 200. The vehicle is planned to be manufactured at plants in Ohio, USA, and is set to be officially sold in California in 2025. AFEELA 1 Signature’s delivery are anticipated to begin in 2026, while the Origin version's delivery are scheduled to initiate in 2027.

The AFEELA 1 boasts an impressive range of 483 kilometers (EPA standards), and is compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.

The design of the AFEELA 1 features a minimalist aesthetic, drawing inspiration from both Tesla and Lucid Air, and its front and rear light clusters capable of displaying subtitles. The interior is adorned with high-quality, functional materials, with approximately 70% of the interior surface applying plant-derived and recycled resources.

The interior adopts the philosophy of "Mobility as a Creative Entertainment Space," incorporating a wide LCD display across the entire dashboard, and is equipped with Sony's 360 Spatial Sound Technologies to enhance active noise cancellation for passengers.

Furthermore, AI assistant is integrated into the vehicle, allowing for interactive functionalities such as conversing, adjusting air conditioning settings, and playing music.

Also, the AI system features autonomous driving. Equipped with an array of external sensors, the vehicle is capable of navigating autonomously in complex urban environments.

Regarding performance, according to the official statement, the AFEELA 1 endeavors to foster a sense of unity between the driver and vehicle, delivering flexible and stable handling. Its advanced 3D motion management system integrates the control of motors, brakes, and suspension via innovative posture control technology, providing optimal comfort and precise handling across diverse road conditions.

In conclusion, it is noteworthy that similar functionalities have been extensively developed by Chinese automotive manufacturers. Thus, the lingering question is, whether Sony Honda Mobility's AFEELA 1 can outperform its competitors and substantiate its pricing exceeding USD 80,000.
