【PCauto】European emission regulations are becoming increasingly stringent, and the Suzuki Jimny is highly likely to exit the French market due to its inability to meet the emission standards. Currently, due to emission issues, the Jimny has already ceased sales in EU countries such as Germany.

As a result, Suzuki announced the launch of the Jimny 55th Anniversary Edition in France, limited to 55 units, priced at RM142,000, with deliveries scheduled for the end of June.

55th Anniversary Edition Features Exclusive Design

This French limited edition is upgraded based on the local Privilège V.U. model and offers four exclusive color options, including white and jungle green. The exterior features retro round headlights, 1970s-inspired body decals, and is equipped with Rhino all-terrain tires that have been in use since 1980.

Inside, the vehicle is equipped with suede floor mats and comes with a Suzuki 4×4 leather notebook and keychain as gifts. For powertrain, it is equipped with the 1.5L K15B engine (102 hp/130 N·m), paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and retains the ALLGRIP PRO part-time four-wheel-drive system. Buyers in France will also have the opportunity to participate in an official training program to adapt themselves to the 4WD driving.

Jimny Still Boasts Passionate Fanbase

Although Jimny has been available for 55 years, its compact and well-crafted design still receive a loyal following. Recently, Suzuki Thailand released 55 units of the khaki green limited-edition Jimny priced at 829,000 baht—all units sold out within just 48 hours. Shortly after, resale orders appeared in the used-vehicle market with price as high as 150,000 baht.

This Thai limited-edition Jimny was improved based on the GLX trim, adding black alloy wheels, a roof rack, and exclusive badges. It kept the same engine but adopts a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Suzuki Plans to Launch All-Electric Jimny Next Year

The Jimny's 1.5L engine emits 154g/km of CO₂under WLTP standards, exceeding the EU's 2025 limit of 81g/km. The 55-unit limited edition pays tribute to the LJ10, the first 4WD vehicle  released in 1970, while catering to collectors' demand. The French version opened for orders on June 2, with the deadline set for June 10.

Meanwhile, Suzuki plans to launch a prototype of the all-electric Jimny in 2026. Complying with the 2035 combustion engine ban, the electric version will mainly target the European market. In markets with slower electrification progress, such as India and Japan, the gasoline-powered Jimny will remain available. The 55th Anniversary Edition sold in France is seen as the final version of the combustion-engine Jimny, serving as a transitional model before electrification.

Regarding the all-electric Jimny, Toshihiro Suzuki, Suzuki’s President , has expressed concerns that battery weight could impair the vehicle's iconic lightweight design (1,090 kg) and affect its off-road performance.

Perodua Traz VS Ativa, which one is more worth buying?

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. As a brand with the most comprehensive product line and a strong foundation in both the SUV and hybrid sectors, will Toyota choose the Yaris Cross to participate in this small SUV competition?

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
