On July 18, Suzuki announced the recall of approximately 137,000 vehicles in the Japanese market, including the Alto model, due to a defect in the gearbox that could potentially render the vehicle immobile. It is known that 134 related complaints have been received. The recall covers cars produced between 2010 and 2016 with a defect in a poorly welded gearbox housing that can cause cracks, resulting in oil leakage or even jamming of the gearbox.

Previously on June 7, Suzuki announced that it will shut down its production factory located in Rayong, Thailand by the end of 2025, and stop the production of petrol cars and trucks in Thailand. This move is aimed at focusing resources on the production of electric cars and hybrid cars in other regions. In the future, Suzuki will focus its Asian production in the Indonesian, Japanese, and Indian markets.
Approximately 800 employees will lose their jobs after the closure of the Rayong factory, and Suzuki has stated that it will provide support for affected employees, including helping them to find new jobs.

India is one of Suzuki's most important markets, and the company is increasing its investment in the market. Suzuki is developing software and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to alleviate traffic congestion in Indian cities. In addition, Suzuki plans to launch new electric cars and hybrid cars in India in the next few years, and has set a target of a 5% market share in the Indian passenger car market by 2030.
