The Smart brand is currently fully transitioning to electrification, and has already launched the Smart Sprite #1 and Smart Sprite #3 electric cars. According to the latest news, the new Smart Sprite #5 has now begun pre-sale in China, with a pre-sale price of RMB 245,000, which is RM 145,899, in the high-end new energy SUV market. Before this, Smart Sprite #5 made its global debut in Australia, positioning it as a medium-sized five-seater SUV, which is the largest model in the brand's history.

Smart Sprite #5 is built on the SEA platform, designed by the Mercedes-Benz global design team. The overall appearance is round, with a clear crossover style, combined with unique exterior kits. It will be the biggest, most square, and boldest Smart ever, marking Smart's entry into the luxury medium-sized pure electric SUV market.
Externally, the Smart Sprite #5 production version retains many design details of the concept version. The overall appearance is round, with a clear crossover style, combined with unique exterior kits, and offers a variety of front and rear trim options. The car's four-hole front design is very distinctive, and the headlight design is unique.

From the side of the car, the new car's overall shape has adopted a relatively standard SUV body structure. The waistline runs through the body to the rear, with cameras on the front wings, and hidden door handles. The front and rear wheel arches are paired with semi-closed five-spoke wheel arches, and there is a luminous Smart LOGO at the position of the D-pillar.
The new car has a length, width and height of 4705/1920/1705mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2900mm. Depending on the configuration, 18/19/20/21-inch 5-spoke wheels are available. The rear ultra-red 3D suspended through-type LED taillights echo the front face, and the convex silver rear bumper highlights outdoor off-road properties. An outdoor adventure package is available as well as multiple practical accessories.

As for the interior, the iconic minimalistic lines sketch the overall horizontal layout of the center console interface, the function control layout is more intuitive and convenient. The interior is equipped with a 13-inch dual OLED display, adopts a four-seat layout, and is also equipped with zero-gravity seats with seat cushion airbags. Smart Sprite #5 not only responds more sensitively, but the operating experience is also silky and smooth. The whole car will be equipped with a 25.6-inch AR-enhanced head-up display, further enhancing the intelligence of the new car.
Smart Sprite #5 is built based on the 800V architecture, offering both single-motor and dual-motor versions, as well as the BRABUS performance edition. The single-motor version can output a maximum power of 250kW and 267kW; the dual-motor version can output a maximum power of 165kW/267kW. The BRABUS performance edition dual motor delivers a maximum power of 165kW/310kW. The new vehicle is equipped with two sizes of battery packs, 76kWh and 100.01kWh respectively, with optional endurance mileage of 570km, 660km, 670km, 720km, and 740km.
Summary
Smart Sprite #5 is a breakthrough in the brand's history, not only progressing in terms of positioning and vehicle size but also surpassing previous models in terms of pricing, further enriching the brand matrix. It seems that the Smart brand is no longer a brand that was once limited to small cars, but is also going to focus on luxury, exquisite, and individual features in new energy vehicles. However, facing the relatively high price, whether consumers will pay for it's another matter.
