[PCauto] TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) recently announced that it will reproduce and sell core components of the 4A-GE engine equipped in the AE86 Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno models through the GR Heritage Parts project.
What Core Components Will TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Reproduce?
This reproduction plan covers the cylinder head sub-assembly (HEAD SUB-ASSY, CYLINDER) and cylinder block sub-assembly (BLOCK SUB-ASSY, CYLINDER), aiming to provide classic car enthusiasts with factory-quality replacement parts to support the long-term maintenance needs of their vehicles.

This project is an extension of TGR's GR Heritage Parts program, which was launched in 2019 and has already reproduced more than 200 parts for eight models including the Toyota 2000GT, A70 Supra, A80 Supra, AE86, and the Land Cruiser 40/60/70/80 series.
Replica Parts Manufactured Using Modern Processes for Superior Performance
The replica components have been optimized using modern manufacturing techniques while retaining the basic specifications of the original design.
Additional machining has been applied to the combustion chamber area of the cylinder head assembly, reducing the area of unmachined casting surfaces and thereby minimizing engine performance variations caused by minor differences in compression ratios.
The intake ports have been coated to improve surface smoothness and reduce irregularities before polishing.

In addition, the application range of cam cap knock pins has been expanded from partial to full use, significantly enhancing assembly convenience.
These improvements are based on user feedback collected by TGR during various activities, such as thickening the intake and exhaust port walls to enhance durability.
The cylinder block assembly has improved bore machining precision through modern honing processes, ensuring more consistent engine performance.

In terms of materials, high-rigidity cast iron has been used, and the crankshaft cap structure has been reinforced using simulation technology to improve overall durability.

Notably, transverse mounting holes and reinforcing ribs have been added to the cylinder block, making it compatible not only with the rear-wheel-drive layout of the AE86 but also with front-wheel-drive vehicles, thereby expanding its application range.
Replica Parts Will Be Exhibited and Sold at the Initial D 30th Anniversary Event
TGR plans to showcase these replica parts for the first time during the "Initial D 30th Anniversary Event" scheduled to be held at Fuji Speedway in Japan on September 13-14, 2025, and accept pre-orders on-site.
A real AE86 will be displayed at the event, equipped with a 4A-GE engine assembled using replica parts and restored using currently available GR Heritage Parts, to intuitively demonstrate the project's achievements.
After the pre-order period ends, customers can place orders through the GR Heritage Parts section on the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing website.
The official release date is tentatively set for May 2026, but TGR emphasizes that the timeline may be adjusted based on order volume and development progress; if the total order quantity falls short of the expected threshold, the release may be delayed.
GR Heritage Parts Focuses on Providing OEM Replica Parts for Discontinued Models
Since its inception, the GR Heritage Parts project has focused on providing OEM replica parts for discontinued models, helping owners extend driving enjoyment and maintain their vehicles in optimal condition.

This time, with the addition of AE86 engine components, the project content is further enriched. As of September 2025, the AE86 replica parts will include 25 components such as rear brake calipers, steering knuckles, and rear drive shafts.
TGR states that the project not only meets the needs of the classic car market but also reflects Toyota's commitment to preserving automotive cultural heritage.
By combining the latest simulation technologies, manufacturing methods, and materials, the replicated components retain the original driving experience while enhancing reliability and applicability.

Perodua Myvi and Bezza may undergo major upgrades in 2026
After the update, the Bezza will no longer be just a low-cost alternative but a core model in the Perodua system with greater market competitiveness and brand premium potential. The upgrade of the Myvi is not to be unconventional but to strengthen the brand and market, ensuring that the Myvi continues to maintain its irreplaceable position in the new round of product competition.

Perodua Traz VS Ativa, which one is more worth buying?
Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Will the Toyota Yaris Cross come to Malaysia? If it comes, how much will it sell for?
The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. As a brand with the most comprehensive product line and a strong foundation in both the SUV and hybrid sectors, will Toyota choose the Yaris Cross to participate in this small SUV competition?

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?
Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.

BYD discloses four patents for variable flux permanent magnet synchronous motors, addressing the efficiency conflict of motors at high and low speeds in automobiles
Traditional permanent magnet synchronous motors can provide strong torque at low speeds, but on highways, the fixed rotor magnetic flux leads to increased back electromotive force, causing a sharp drop in efficiency. This long-standing contradiction in the industry has now found a new solution with the announcement of BYD's latest technology patent.
