Toyota's Sixth-generation 4Runner Makes its Global Debut, Featuring Hybrid Power

Recently, Toyota launched the sixth generation 4Runner for the first time in the North American market, which is another upgrade for this model after 15 years. The sixth generation 4Runner is built on the TNGA-F platform and maintains its off-road style, while meeting the travel needs of 7 people. The power system of the new car has also been adjusted and uses a combination of a 2.4T+ hybrid power system.

The sixth generation 4Runner, with the help of the Ladder Frame non-load-bearing body and high-rigidity body, not only maintains excellent off-road performance but also provides better ride comfort. In addition, the 4Runner shares many parts with its sibling model, the Tacoma.
On appearance, the design of the sixth-generation 4Runner is similar to that of the Tacoma, mainly in the design of the front face. The body still has a hardcore design, sharp angles, and a large volume. The regular model uses Toyota's conventional standing mark, while the off-road version uses the TOYOTA logo to show its unique temperament, which is also a display of its hardcore off-road identity. Although the rear uses a traditional lift-up design instead of the popular side-opening tailgate, it still retains the rare electric trunk window, which is convenient for you to pick-up items. In addition, in case of an emergency, this also provides an extra escape route. The off-road version comes standard with a wading pipe, black wheel eyebrows, a roof rack, TRD rims, etc.

The interior design also presents a rugged style, but it is obviously more tech-savvy. The sixth-generation 4Runner introduces a 12.3-inch full LCD dashboard and a 14-inch floating large screen in the middle control, which presents a very forward-looking technology visual experience. At the same time, it retains a large number of mechanical buttons, preserving the traditional off-road vehicle style very well. In addition, the configuration of this car is also very rich, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi mobile phone wireless charging board, and 10 JBL advanced speakers.

In terms of safety configuration, the new car is equipped with a comprehensive intelligent driving assistance system, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure assistance, lane keeping assistance, automatic adjustment of high and low beam lights, and full-speed range DRCC radar active cruise control and other functions.

In terms of power, the new car adopts a combination of a 2.4T+ hybrid system and is matched with an 8AT gearbox. The 2.4T engine has a maximum horsepower of 278PS and a peak torque of 429N·m. Besides, the motor in the i-FORCE MAX hybrid system can output an additional 48PS of horsepower, so the maximum horsepower of the power system reaches 326PS, and the peak torque reaches 630N·m. The sixth-generation 4Runner is expected to have a significant improvement in power performance.
