In 2024, more and more Chinese new energy vehicle companies are heading to Southeast Asia and increasing their layout in the Southeast Asian market. Among such a large number of players, MG is a very low-key yet capable brand. Although it originated from the UK, it has been acquired by a Chinese company. This brand has a good momentum in Europe, but struggles a bit in the Southeast Asian market.

The new MG4 EV is a pure electric model released in China in March this year. As a global electric vehicle model, it has the latest global delivery volume of more than 180,000 units. Its price in China ranges from RM 103,999-158,999, which belongs to the mid-range pure electric model. It meets the users' commuting needs and also has a good performance. However, its sales have not picked up since its market launch. In July 2024, it only sold 75 units, far short of the expected target.
Exterior: Youthful and Sporty Design

For its exterior design, the new MG4 EV adopts a new design style, which is quite different from the current design language of MG's fuel car family. The front face has a clear pure electric car feature, using a fully enclosed grille design. At the same time, the sharp headlights and air inlets on both sides at the bottom still retain the youthful and sporty feel of the MG brand.
In terms of body size, the new MG4 EV measures 4287x1836x1504mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2705mm. It also has an evenly balanced weight distribution of 50:50, further improving the vehicle's handling performance.
Interior: Simple and Practical Style

Inside, the all-new MG4 EV is designed with a clean style, using a two-tone combo. The vehicle is equipped with a double-spoke three-point and nine-point non-true-round steering wheel, a 7-inch full-liquid crystal dashboard and 10.25-inch floating middle control screen with knob shifting design. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. In addition, the car adopts a design similar to the Volkswagen ID.4, which not only enhances the technological sense of the car, but also improves space usage efficiency.
Power: 0-100 Acceleration in 3.8 seconds, Range up to 520km

On the power front, the all-new MG4 EV uses the MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) platform and is equipped with the One Pack flat battery pack developed by SAIC Motor. The battery capacity ranges from 49kWh to 64kWh, the range under WLTP test conditions is 415km to 520km respectively. The maximum power ranges from 125kW to 315kW, with zero to 100 km/h acceleration time as fast as 3.8 seconds. This acceleration performance is outstanding, leading nearly all petrol cars on the road, which can bring a very strong push back feel, making you relaxed when accelerating and overtaking.
Conclusion
The all-new MG4 EV is a very distinctive pure electric model. With the blessing of China's new energy technology, its power performance and endurance performance are commendable. It has also reached a first-class level in terms of intelligent experience. Its influence in China is still fermenting, with current sales being moderate. In the future, with the promotion of the brand and the advancement of new energy, the all-new MG4 EV may stand out with its product strength, not only reducing costs in daily use, but also offering consumers a new experience in control and intelligence.
