【PCauto】On the evening of June 26, 2025, Xiaomi announced the pricing for its second vehicle model, the YU7:
Xiaomi YU7 priced at RMB 253,500 (approximately RM 150,000)
Xiaomi YU7 Pro priced at RMB 279,900 (approximately RM 165,000)
Xiaomi YU7 Max priced at RMB 329,900 (approximately RM 195,000)

835km CLTC Range: Longest-Range SUV in Its Class
Prior to the official launch of YU7, Xiaomi had already announced its many specifications. As Xiaomi's first SUV, YU7 inherits the design language of the SU7, but is not a slightly improved version. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the YU7 measures:
Length: 4999mm
Width: 1996mm
Height: 1600mm
Wheelbase: 3000mm
Notably, its length and wheelbase surpass those of the Tesla Model Y. Combining fastback silhouette with 10 integrated airflow channels, YU7 achieves an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.245.
For drivetrain, the standard variant accelerates 0-100km/h in 5.88 seconds, reaches a top speed of 240km/h, and delivers an 835km CLTC range—the longest in its price segmentation.
YU7 Pro is equipped with dual motors (front and rear), achieving 0-100km/h in 4.27 seconds with a 770km CLTC range.
YU7 Max accelerates 0-100km/h in just 3.23 seconds, achieving a 253km/h top speed, and is equipped with a 101.7kWh CATL ternary lithium battery, offering a 760km CLTC range.
All variants come standard with an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform supporting 5.2C ultra-fast charging—capable of replenishing 620km of range in just 15 minutes.

High-Strength Body with Embedded Roll Cage
Xiaomi YU7's body frame adopts ultra-high-strength 2200MPa steel. Compared with mainstream 1500MPa hot-formed steel, it offers 40% higher tensile strength and 24% increased yield strength.
Additionally, it incorporates an "embedded roll cage" system, also constructed with Xiaomi's 2200MPa ultra-high-strength steel. Using hot gas expansion forming technology, the structure is embedded within the A-pillars and B-pillars, increasing pillars’ load-bearing capacity by 35% and 70.5% respectively, significantly enhancing body rigidity during rollover scenarios, providing maximum occupant protection.

For the chassis, YU7 comes standard with front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension systems, featuring continuously variable damping shock absorbers. Mid-to-high trim levels are equipped with closed air springs that actively adjust stiffness and ride height. Xiaomi Intelligent Chassis system further incorporates road preview capability for predictive adjustments.
All Variants Are Equipped with LiDAR
The intelligent driving assistance system was previously considered a weak point for Xiaomi's vehicles, but the Xiaomi YU7 has quickly addressed this issue. It is equipped with a 10 million clips-level end-to-end large model, and is equipped as standard with NVIDIA's next-generation Thor in-vehicle computing platform, delivering a maximum computing power of 700 TOPS, along with standard LiDAR.
YU7 also features 4D millimeter-wave radar to enhance driving safety in rainy and foggy conditions. The application of camera ALD coating technology effectively reduces glare and ghosting, enabling the system to adapt to various complex environments and deliver smarter, safer assisted driving.

YU7's Groundbreaking Interior Design
To ensure luxury and comfort, Xiaomi YU7 adopts 100% soft-touch materials on all high-frequency contact interior surfaces, with full Nappa leather seats that offer both enveloping support and ergonomic comfort.

The cabin's standout feature is a 1.1-meter-long Mini-LED projection display. The display integrates AR navigation and blind-spot imaging functions, combined with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, it delivers an ultra-retina 108 PPD resolution. Xiaomi highlights that through deep integration of HyperOS, the system automatically activates home air conditioning when the vehicle approaches within 500 meters. A 6.68-inch rear control screen provides direct adjustment of Xiaomi Smart Home devices.

The front seats feature dual zero-gravity functionality with one-touch reclining, while the rear boasts 135° electrically adjustable luxury seats with customizable angles, along with a mini fridge and a detachable rear control screen.

For storage, the YU7 offers a large 1,970L cargo capacity, including a notably spacious 141L frunk. The front hood supports multiple automatic opening methods—voice command (with voiceprint recognition), exterior button, and smartphone proximity sensing—ensuring both generous volume and user convenience.

Priced to Compete with Model Y
In terms of pricing strategy, Xiaomi YU7 is positioned to directly compete with Model Y. The standard version is priced at approximately RM150,000, which is RM5,894 less than the local rear-wheel drive version of Model Y, while offering an additional 100km of range.
YU7 Max, priced at RM195,000, outperforms the Model Y Performance variant. This combination of "top-tier hardware + cost-effectiveness" has successfully met mainstream demand, leading to the emergence of resale services charging RM4,715 for for reservation services .In response, Xiaomi officially stated that any markup transactions are deemed violations and will result in the cancellation of related orders.

On June 23, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun addressed inquiries on social media: "Many friends ask if the YU7 can outsell Model Y in China. Model Y is an industry-recognized masterpiece, being the global sales champion for several consecutive years and defeating many challengers, which is quite impressive! However, we've set an ambitious goal: YU7 will keep challenging Model Y! In terms of product strength, I'm highly confident. As for sales? That depends on post-launch review."
Over the past three years, Tesla Model Y has dominated global EV market, with 1.17 million units sold in 2024 and approximately 190,000 deliveries in Q1 this year.
After the launch of YU7, Xiaomi has fulfilled its promise—even a formidable competitor like Model Y has not achieved such initial order capabilities.

Xiaomi's Growing Challenges in Delivery
Following the launch of the YU7, orders surged at a rate of nearly 5,000 per minute. Within just 60 minutes, the new SUV had acquired over 289,000 orders, setting a new record for first-hour order volume in the electric vehicle sector.
Currently, Xiaomi's Beijing plant operates on a dual-shift system with a monthly production capacity of 15,000 units, while the backlog for the SU7 still requires 30 weeks to clear, which means the first batch of YU7 owners may face a wait exceeding six months.
To address the issue, Xiaomi has initiated plans for a third factory, but the construction timeline is unlikely to match the current growth rate of orders. During an internal meeting following the launch event, Lei Jun emphasized: "Delivery capability defines brand credibility—we must spare no effort to achieve quick delivery." For now, YU7's success hinges on the speed of production ramp-up and the development of its after-sales service.
