In Malaysia's C-Segment SUV market, consumers' needs for space practicality, rich features, and driving quality are becoming increasingly clear. As one of the representative models in this segment, the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active has been a focal point for many family users with its unique design language and balanced performance. In this test drive, we will focus on experiencing its static design details, dynamic driving performance, and daily usability to see if this car can meet local consumers' core expectations for family SUVs.

In terms of exterior design, the overall style of the 2018 3008 THP Active combines ruggedness with refinement. The front uses Peugeot's iconic dotted grille design, paired with sharp-shaped LED daytime running lights on both sides, creating high recognition. The headlights combine halogen and LED light sources, and the automatic headlight function is convenient for daily use. The body side profile is streamlined, with 18-inch wheels matched with 225/55 R18 tires, creating a stable stance. At the rear, the blackened taillights coordinate with the silver skid plate on the rear bumper, resulting in a harmonious visual effect. As for details, both front and rear fog lights are standard, and rain-sensing wipers can adjust speed automatically based on the rain intensity, which is practical in the locally variable weather conditions.

Inside the cabin, the design style emphasizes technology. The center console is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, with a clear operating logic and basically smooth responsiveness. The instrument panel adopts a fully digital display, showing real-time information like speed, fuel consumption, and navigation, with an intuitive and easy-to-read interface. Regarding materials, the upper part of the center console is covered with soft-touch materials, providing a decent tactile experience. The multifunction steering wheel comes with paddle shifters, supports manual adjustment, and offers a comfortable grip. As for features, the front row is equipped with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and the rear has independent air-conditioning vents to ensure passenger comfort. The driver’s seat comes with 8-way electric adjustment, making it easy to find a comfortable driving position. The rear seats can fold in a 60:40 split configuration, and when folded, the trunk capacity can be further expanded to accommodate larger items. For storage, the front and rear door storage slots and the central armrest box are well-designed for convenience in storing small items. Additionally, the inclusion of a 220V/230V power outlet provides added convenience for outdoor power usage.

In terms of space, the car's dimensions are 4,447mm in length, 1,841mm in width, and 1,624mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,675mm, placing it in the mid-range among similar vehicles. The front-row seating space is spacious, providing about a fist and two fingers of headroom and ample legroom for a 175cm tall occupant. The rear seating space is also adequate, offering about two fists of legroom and one fist of headroom, with a minimally raised floor in the middle, making it comfortable for three passengers even when fully occupied. The trunk has a default capacity of 520L, meeting the needs for daily shopping and short trips. Folding down the rear seats further enhances the storage capacity, adding to its practicality.

In terms of dynamic driving performance, this car is equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 167PS and a peak torque available from 1,400rpm, paired with an AT gearbox. During the start-up phase, the power response is lively, and a light press on the accelerator provides notable acceleration. Mid-to-late-stage acceleration is smooth, and during overtaking, pressing the accelerator deeper results in quick downshifting of the transmission, with direct power output. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 8.9 seconds, and the actual experience meets the demands of daily city commuting and highway driving. For driving modes, the standard mode provides balanced power output, while switching to Sport mode enhances throttle sensitivity and adopts a more aggressive shifting logic, suitable for scenarios where driving pleasure is sought.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the front suspension adopts a MacPherson independent suspension, with an overall tuning leaning towards comfort. When dealing with commonly seen speed bumps or bumpy roads locally, the suspension effectively filters most of the vibrations, maintaining the car's body stability; during cornering, the steering wheel is precise in direction, and body roll is kept within a reasonable range, providing the driver with ample confidence. The braking system performs steadily, with the combination of front ventilated discs and rear ventilated discs offering timely braking response, linear brake force, and strong safety assurance for daily driving.

As for fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 7L/100km. During the actual test drive, the fuel consumption in urban traffic was around 8.5L/100km, while highway consumption was about 6.2L/100km. Overall, its performance is on par with other turbocharged models in the same class. Given the local fuel price environment, the fuel economy is acceptable. Regarding noise isolation, wind noise and tire noise at high speed are controlled within an acceptable range and do not significantly interfere with in-car conversations; engine noise is slightly transmitted during acceleration but does not affect comfort.

In terms of safety features, this car comes standard with 6 airbags (dual front airbags, side airbags, and front and rear curtain airbags), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), vehicle stability control, lane-change assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree panoramic camera system, ensuring comprehensive safety. Additionally, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill-start assist, and engine start-stop technology further enhance daily safety and convenience.

To summarize, the core strengths of the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active lie in its well-rounded configuration, comfortable driving experience, and practical space design. Compared to competitors in the same class, its fully digital instrument cluster, independent rear air conditioning, and 220V power outlet offer a competitive edge. The 5-year/120,000km comprehensive warranty also provides added peace of mind for consumers. This vehicle is suitable for users who focus on family practicality and have certain expectations regarding features. Whether for daily city commutes or short weekend trips, it can meet demands adequately.

In conclusion, the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active is a well-balanced family SUV. It has no particularly apparent shortcomings and meets the core needs of local consumers in design, features, and driving experience. If you are looking for a C-segment SUV that balances practicality and quality, this car is worth considering.

As the owner of the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active and having driven it in Malaysia for almost two years, I must say the overall experience has been quite satisfying! Let’s talk about performance first. The 1.6T engine power is more than adequate for commuting in Kuala Lumpur, especially during morning rush hours when you’re pressed for time — acceleration and overtaking are very smooth. The official 8.9-second acceleration time is no exaggeration. However, on highways, once you go over 120km/h, further acceleration becomes a bit sluggish, probably due to the vehicle’s weight. In terms of fuel consumption, it’s about 8-9 liters per 100km in the city and can drop to around 6 liters on highways, which is pretty decent for an SUV. The interior design feels quite tech-savvy. The combination of the fully digital dashboard and the 8-inch central control screen makes operation very convenient. The seats provide good support, and the 8-way electric adjustment is very practical, ensuring long drives are not exhausting. However, the interior has a somewhat plastic feel, especially in the lower part of the dashboard. It would be better if more soft-touch materials were used. As for the exterior, Peugeot’s design has always been ahead of its time. The claw-style taillights on the 3008 are very distinctive, and it gets a reasonable amount of attention on the road. That said, the paint seems a bit thin. There was an incident where a small stone hit the car while parked by the roadside, leaving a minor scratch, which is a bit disappointing. All in all, this car performs quite well on Malaysian roads. It handles both city and highway driving with ease, and the interior and exterior align with my aesthetic preferences—though there’s room for improvement in the finer details.

As the owner of a 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active, driving in Malaysia for almost five years, I genuinely feel this car was the right choice! Let’s start with the performance, I’d give it 4 stars because it performs quite steadily on local roads—during rush hour traffic in Kuala Lumpur, the 1.6T turbo kicks in quickly, making it easy to accelerate without feeling sluggish; on weekends, when taking my family to Genting Highlands, the power output on uphill drives is smooth and doesn’t feel strenuous. However, when occasionally wanting to push harder on the highways, the acceleration isn’t as aggressive as expected—maybe the tuning is more suited for family use—but it’s completely sufficient for daily driving. The interior deserves full marks! The first time I stepped into the car, I was amazed by the i-Cockpit fully digital instrument panel – it’s full of tech vibes, and the navigation and speed information are clear at a glance. The 8-inch touchscreen in the center console is responsive and the air conditioning controls are very intuitive. The most comfortable feature is the front seats, with 8-way electric adjustments allowing you to always find the right position, and my back doesn’t get sore even on long trips. The rear seat space is just right for our family, and it’s spacious enough for the child’s safety seat. Additionally, the rear air conditioning vents are very practical—considering Malaysia’s weather, this keeps the whole family cool and comfortable. In conclusion, the performance is sufficient for daily family use, and the interior is definitely a highlight. Friends often praise its good looks, making it a vehicle with great value for money!

As the owner of the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active, after driving in Malaysia for almost five years, what surprises me the most is its interior! Sitting inside feels like entering a small airplane cockpit—the fully digital instrument panel and the aircraft toggle-style gear shifter give a sense of ceremony every time I start the car. The touchscreen on the center console is very responsive, even my mom, who isn't very tech-savvy, can easily control the air conditioning. The leather seats are soft to the touch and comfortable even during long traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur. The rear seating space is sufficiently large, so when taking the whole family to Genting Highlands on weekends, three adults can sit in the back without feeling cramped. The interior details are impeccable, absolutely deserve full marks! In terms of performance, I’d rate it 4 out of 5. The 1.6T turbocharged engine performs excellently on the highway—driving from KL to Penang via the North-South Expressway, stepping on the accelerator gives instant power, and the 8.9-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is particularly satisfying when overtaking trucks on the highway. However, during low-speed driving in the city, the gear shifting feels a bit jerky at times, especially when crawling in traffic on Jalan Ampang during the morning rush hour. Still, on the whole, it’s quite smooth. The fuel consumption is about 8.5L/100km in Kuala Lumpur traffic jams and can drop to 6.5L on highways, which is even slightly better than the official 7L. It’s totally adequate for daily use, except for the minor regret of the low-speed jerkiness, otherwise, it would be perfect!

As the owner of the 2018 Peugeot 3008 THP Active, I've driven it in Malaysia for more than two years and I'm quite satisfied with its performance! Let’s start with performance, which undoubtedly earns a full 5 out of 5. The 1.6T turbocharged engine makes overtaking in the city very easy, especially on the congested roads of Kuala Lumpur. Just a slight push on the accelerator is enough to swiftly get out of traffic. On the North-South Expressway, accelerating to 120km/h is effortless, with ample power reserves. Fuel consumption is also good, averaging about 7.5L/100km under mixed conditions, slightly higher than the official data, but given Malaysia’s traffic conditions, this result is already very ideal. In terms of appearance, I’d give it 4 points. The overall design is very avant-garde, especially the lion-claw-style headlights and the floating roof, which attract a lot of attention. However, the rear design is relatively conservative; it would be perfect if it were a bit sportier. The paint quality is impressive—after more than two years, it still shines like new. However, the white paint tends to gather dust, requiring frequent cleaning. What gives me the most peace of mind is its safety features, which deserve a full 5 points. Six airbags, vehicle stability control, front and rear sensors, and a reverse camera all come as standard. In Malaysia’s challenging environment with reckless motorcycles, these features significantly enhance driving safety. One time while driving on a hilly road in Penang, I suddenly encountered a motorcycle going the wrong way. The ESP system quickly intervened, helping me stabilize the vehicle and avoid an accident. Overall, this car provides an excellent driving experience in Malaysia. Its performance and safety features are particularly satisfying. If the details of its exterior design could be further optimized, it would be perfect!
