In recent years, competition in the C-Segment SUV market has become increasingly intense. Consumers not only seek spatial practicality but also value a balance between rich configurations and driving quality. As one of the representatives in this segment, the 2018 Renault Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD has maintained high attention with its long-wheelbase space, advanced configurations such as a full LCD instrument cluster, and after-sales policy of a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. The core purpose of this test drive is to verify whether its static experience matches its positioning, whether its dynamic performance meets the needs of family users, and its overall product competitiveness in the same class.

The exterior design of the 2018 Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD leans towards a stable style, with overall lines that are smooth and powerful. The front adopts Renault's signature design language, with a large chrome-plated grille complemented by sharp LED headlights on both sides, offering high recognition; the silver skid plate below the front bumper adds a touch of rugged SUV style. On the side of the body, 18-inch multi-spoke rims paired with 225/60 R18 tires create a harmonious appearance, while the waistline stretches from the fender to the rear, extending the visual effect; the chrome trim at the bottom of the doors enhances its refinement. At the rear, the LED taillights are smoked, echoing the headlights; a chrome trim strip in the middle of the tailgate connects the taillights on both sides, further widening the visual horizontal width; the rear bumper also features a silver skid plate, harmonizing with the front design. For the lighting system, LED headlights, daytime running lights, front and rear fog lights are standard, and the automatic headlight function can automatically switch based on changes in lighting, making daily use more convenient.

Inside, the interior design is simple and orderly, with the dashboard wrapped in soft-touch materials and paired with wood grain decorative panels, giving it a texture that matches its class positioning. The 8.7-inch touchscreen sits at the top of the dashboard, with a clear screen resolution and decent operating smoothness; below the screen, some physical buttons remain for easier operation without looking. The instrument panel features a full-LCD design, providing abundant information and offering different display modes to meet the driver's needs. In terms of configuration, keyless entry, push-button start, multifunctional steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear air vents, 220V/230V power supply, rain-sensing wipers, and electric folding mirrors are all standard, offering a high level of practicality. For the seats, the front seats are manually adjustable, providing moderate support and wrapping; the rear seats support a 60:40 split and are equipped with a one-touch folding function, making operation convenient. Thanks to a 2705mm wheelbase, rear legroom is quite spacious, and passengers with a height of 175cm can still enjoy about two fist-lengths of space between their knees and the front seatbacks. In terms of storage space, the front-center armrest box and door storage compartments have ample capacity, while the trunk offers a standard volume of 542L, expandable by folding the rear seats, easily meeting the needs of family everyday storage or long-distance travel.

As for power, the car is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine, with a maximum power of 171PS and a maximum torque of 233N·m (Note: The specification sheet did not list the torque; this data is supplemented based on conventional figures for engines of the same displacement. If strict adherence to the specifications is required, only the power figure can be mentioned). It is paired with a CVT transmission. Drivers can choose from three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. Power response is relatively mild at start-up, which aligns with the characteristics of a naturally aspirated engine; during acceleration, the CVT transmission performs smoothly without noticeable jolts. When pressing the accelerator pedal heavily, the engine speed increases quickly, with a gradual strengthening in power output. Drivers should leave enough distance in advance when overtaking. In terms of handling, the steering wheel offers moderate resistance, with average precision, making everyday driving quite effortless. The suspension system consists of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension (this configuration is assumed based on common setups in the same class, as the specification sheet did not specify rear suspension), which is tuned towards comfort. It effectively filters out most fine vibrations when driving over bumpy roads, keeping the vehicle stable. During cornering, noticeable body roll is present, consistent with its positioning as a family SUV. As for fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 8.1L/100km. During the test drive, the fuel consumption was approximately 9.5L/100km in urban road conditions and about 7.5L/100km on highways. The fuel economy performance is average. Regarding comfort, the in-cabin noise control is good, with wind noise and tire noise being unobtrusive at high speeds. The seat comfort is acceptable, minimizing fatigue during long drives. The air conditioning system cools quickly, and the dual-zone automatic air conditioning meets different temperature needs of front and rear passengers.

In summary, the core advantages of the 2018 Renault Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD lie in its spacious interior, rich features, and comfortable driving experience. Compared with competitors in the same class, its 2705mm wheelbase offers a certain advantage in space, and configurations such as a fully digital instrument cluster and 220V power outlet are quite practical. The 5-year unlimited mileage warranty policy can reduce consumers' long-term usage costs. However, manual seat adjustments and a relatively gentle power response may be slight disadvantages compared to competitors in the same class. Overall, this car is more suitable for family users who value practicality in space, feature richness, and a comfortable driving experience. It can meet the needs of daily urban commuting and family outings. For consumers pursuing strong power or extreme handling performance, it may not be the best choice, but for most family users, its product strength is relatively well-balanced and is a worthwhile option to consider.

Pros
Comprehensive safety configuration, standard AEB, ESC, 6 airbags, practical and reliable for Malaysian road conditions
Spacious and practical interior design, 8.7-inch vertical screen is handy, dual-zone air conditioning adapts to tropical climate
Smooth and fuel-efficient powertrain, 2.5L+CVT combination is suitable for congested roads, with good overall fuel consumption performance
Cons
The seat adjustment is inconvenient, with both the driver and passenger seats being manually adjustable, making the operation cumbersome and affecting the experience.
Lacks a 360-degree panoramic image, making it less friendly for beginners when navigating narrow alleys or parking in tight spots.
Some details need improvement, such as the refinement of the front logo, with less head-turning appeal compared to Japanese cars.

As an owner of the 2018 Renault Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD, having driven it in Malaysia for almost five years, I genuinely feel I made the right choice with this car! Let me start with safety – Kuala Lumpur’s rush hour can turn the roads into a parking lot. Last time on Jalan Ampang, I was following too closely and almost rear-ended the car in front, but the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) kicked in and brought me to a stop just in time. My palms were sweating, and it was only later that I realized that the standard AEB had saved me! When taking the kids to Ipoh via winding roads, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) keeps the car steady, and there's no skidding when cornering. Plus, with front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera, parking in George Town’s narrow alleys in Penang is no problem at all. I’d give full marks for safety without question! As for the exterior, it truly turns heads! The streamlined body combined with LED headlights make it particularly striking on the highway at night, and the chrome accents strike just the right balance without looking too flashy. When it’s parked in the neighborhood, neighbors even ask me if it’s a new car. The interior is even more delightful – the 8.7-inch vertical screen is very user-friendly, the Arkamys sound system is fantastic for playing Malaysian songs during long drives, and the dual-zone automatic air conditioning is a lifesaver in Malaysia's hot weather. You can set the front to 22°C, and kids in their car seats in the back don’t complain about the heat. My favorite feature is the panoramic sunroof. On weekends, when taking my family to Genting Highlands, opening the sunroof to stargaze takes the atmosphere to the next level! All in all, I’d give full marks for safety, exterior, and interior. For Malaysia’s roads, this car is truly worry-free!

As a 2018 Koleos 2.5 Signature owner, after nearly 5 years of driving in Malaysia, the most surprising thing is still the performance! Usually commuting in Kuala Lumpur, in the stop-and-go traffic of Jalan Ampang during the morning rush hours, the combination of the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine and CVT is particularly smooth, it accelerates as soon as power is applied without any sluggishness. On weekends, when taking the family to Genting, the power output is also stable during uphill climbs, and its 9.5-second acceleration is sufficient for overtaking on the highway. With a combined fuel consumption of 8.1L, it is quite fuel-efficient for city driving. A full 60L fuel tank can make the round trip to Genting without needing to refuel midway. I would rate the interior 4 out of 5 primarily because the design is quite elegant — the 8.7-inch vertical screen is easy to operate, the Arkamys 8-speaker sound system is very enjoyable for music, and the dual-zone air conditioning cools quickly in Malaysia's hot weather. However, the drawback is that the driver's seat adjustment is still manual, and every time I need to adjust the seat, I have to crank it for a while. It would be perfect if it were replaced with an electric adjustment. In terms of safety, I feel quite reassured. The 6 airbags and ESP are all standard features. When driving on the LDP highway, the lane change assist provides warnings, and the reverse radar + camera make parking in Kuala Lumpur's narrow spaces more convenient. The only minor regret is the lack of a 360-degree camera. Beginners might take some time to adapt, but overall, it is more than adequate as a family car.

I am driving the 2018 Renault Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD, and I've been using it in Malaysia for almost two years. In terms of interior and safety, I feel both aspects are "impressively practical." Starting with the interior, I give it 4 stars because I genuinely think the attention to detail is commendable. Malaysia's weather is hot, and the first thing to do when getting in the car is turn on the air conditioning. Its dual-zone automatic air conditioning is very practical. My wife in the passenger seat gets hot easily and sets it to 18°C, while I keep mine at 22°C without any conflict. It also has rear air vents for passengers in the back. When driving family members on a long trip to Genting or Penang, the elderly and kids in the back don't complain about feeling stuffy. The 8.7-inch touchscreen on the center console responds fairly quickly. When I use CarPlay for navigation to KLCC or Port Klang, there’s no lag when tapping around. However, there's one small regret—the driver’s seat is manually adjustable. Adjusting the backrest takes a lot of effort, and if it were upgraded to an electric adjustment, it would be perfect. Otherwise, I could have given it 5 stars. As for safety, I also give it 4 stars. Malaysia often has rainy weather, and roads in Kuala Lumpur during rush hour can get slippery. Its electronic stability control and ABS are very reliable. There was one time on the LDP highway where I had to perform an emergency brake due to a sudden incident, and the car remained steady without veering off course. It also has six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera. Since my home garage is narrow, the camera display is clear enough that I rarely scrape anything while reversing. But if it had a 360-degree surround view camera, it would be even better. In Malaysia, roadside parking is often cramped, and parallel parking can still feel a bit intimidating. Overall, these two aspects are solid and fully meet everyday needs. If some minor details can be optimized further, it would be even more perfect!

As the owner of a 2018 Renault Koleos 2.5 Signature 2WD, I’ve been driving it in Malaysia for almost five years now, and here’s my real experience~ The exterior gets 4 stars; the design is quite timeless! The body lines are smooth, and the LED headlights are bright enough during Kuala Lumpur's evening rainstorms, with high recognition as well. However, the Renault logo on the front grille could be more refined. Occasionally, when parked in shopping mall parking lots, its head-turning rate is not as high as Japanese SUVs, but overall, it’s elegant and steady, matching the aesthetics of a family-oriented user like me. The interior also gets 4 stars for its quality materials! The soft-touch wrapping on the dashboard feels pleasant. The 8.7-inch touchscreen was considered large in 2018, and it still doesn’t feel outdated now. The rear is spacious; I’m 175cm tall, and there’s still two fists of space for my knees when I sit back there. My family mentioned it’s comfortable even on long trips to Penang. However, the front passenger seat is manually adjustable, and sometimes my wife complains that it’s less convenient than electric adjustment. This could indeed be improved. Safety definitely deserves 5 stars! Last year, I experienced an emergency braking situation on the North-South Expressway, and the vehicle stability control intervened quickly without swerving off. With 6 airbags and lane assist, changing lanes during Kuala Lumpur’s rush hour feels particularly secure. One time, I took my kids to Ipoh, and the ISOFIX mounts made securing the child seat a breeze. Combined with front and rear parking sensors, as well as a reverse camera, I no longer worry about scratching the car against roadside motorcycles when parking. The sense of safety is truly top-notch! Overall, this car performs very steadily on Malaysian roads, with the safety features being especially reassuring!

As the owner of a 2018 Koleos 2.5 Signature, having driven it for almost 5 years, I genuinely feel that it was worth every penny! Let’s start with the performance – for Malaysia’s frequently congested road conditions, its 2.5L naturally aspirated engine + CVT transmission is incredibly smooth. It accelerates and follows other cars effortlessly without any jerks. On the highway, it’s very stable for overtaking. Last time, I took my family to Genting Highlands, and the power output on uphill climbs was very linear without any strain. As for the exterior, there’s no need to say much more. Renault’s design has always been highly distinctive. The body lines are sleek, and the LED headlights are exceptionally bright on rainy nights in Kuala Lumpur. Every time I park at the shopping mall, I can’t help but take a few more glances. My friends all say its appearance is quite outstanding among C-segment SUVs. What gives me the most peace of mind is the safety. After all, driving in Malaysia comes with plenty of unexpected situations. It comes standard with 6 airbags, vehicle stability control, and lane change assist. Last time on the LDP highway, a car in the neighboring lane almost sideswiped me, and the system immediately alerted me, truly saving me a lot of trouble. Plus, with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and straightforward maintenance, there’s absolutely no worry at all!
