In recent years, competition in the C-Segment SUV market has become increasingly fierce. Consumers want the practicality of space required for family use while not wishing to compromise on configuration or power. The 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active, as a member of this segment, has attracted much attention with its high configuration, balanced power, and unique design. The focus of this review is to verify whether its static performance meets family needs, whether its dynamic driving balances comfort and handling, and whether these configurations truly enhance daily usage experience.

From a distance, the overall style of the 3008 THP Plus Active leans towards robust yet remains sophisticated. The front face adopts Peugeot's family-style design, with a large grille paired with chrome trims, offering high recognition; the headlights on both sides combine halogen and LED light sources, and the automatic headlight function is quite convenient in daily use. The side profile features smooth lines, with 18-inch tires paired with multi-spoke wheels, presenting harmonious visual proportions. At the rear, the LED tail lamp assembly is treated with a smoked effect, giving them strong recognition when lit; the silver skid plate below the rear bumper enhances the SUV's off-road vibe. The overall exterior design is not overly complex, aligning with the aesthetics of most family users.

Upon entering the interior, the first noticeable feature is the i-Cockpit cabin layout, combining a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and an 8-inch central control touch screen, which provides a strong sense of technology. The steering wheel is slightly smaller in size, with multifunctional button layouts that are user-friendly and convenient to operate; the HUD head-up display function shows information such as speed and navigation, enhancing driving safety. The seats are wrapped in leather, and the driver's seat supports 8-way electric adjustment, making it easy to find a comfortable driving position; the rear seats support a 60:40 split fold configuration, expanding the trunk capacity from 591L to 1670L, which is very practical when loading large items. In terms of configurations, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear air vents, and a 220V power outlet are all included, ensuring convenience in daily use.

In terms of dimensions, the 4510mm length and 2730mm wheelbase place it at a medium level among vehicles in the same class. From the actual riding experience, there is about a fist and two fingers of headroom in the front row, and around two fists of legroom in the rear row, ensuring that even passengers as tall as 180cm won’t feel cramped. In terms of storage space, the door panel storage, central armrest box, and other designs are thoughtfully laid out and capable of meeting daily storage needs; the rear center armrest with cup holders also adds practicality. The standard ISO FIX child seat interface provides extra peace of mind for family users.

In terms of power, the 3008 THP Plus Active is equipped with a 1.6T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 167PS and a maximum torque of 240N·m, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In actual driving, the power response is quick during start-up, with no noticeable turbo lag; acceleration is smooth, and during mid-range acceleration and overtaking, the transmission shifts proactively, providing sufficient power promptly. There are three driving modes to choose from: eco, standard, and sport. In sport mode, throttle sensitivity is increased, and power output feels more direct.

In terms of handling, the steering wheel is precise with minimal play, and the body roll is well-controlled during cornering; the suspension system uses a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension, tuned for comfort. It effectively absorbs road bumps without any noticeable stiffness. The brake pedal feels linear, and the braking distance is short, inspiring confidence in daily driving. In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 7L/100km. In actual testing, the city fuel consumption is about 8.5L/100km, and the highway about 6.5L/100km, which is average.

The soundproofing performs well, with wind noise and tire noise well-controlled at high speeds, remaining within an acceptable range. The seats provide good support and wrapping, ensuring comfort for long drives without causing fatigue. The energy recovery system has three adjustable levels. When set to the highest level, releasing the accelerator produces noticeable drag, which can enhance range to some extent, but it is recommended to keep it at a lower level for better comfort during daily driving.

Overall, the core strengths of the 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active lie in its rich features and balanced performance. Compared to vehicles within the same class, its fully digital instrument cluster, HUD head-up display, and lane change assist features are at a relatively high level in this price range. Its performance and fuel consumption are also above average. However, the non-independent rear suspension is slightly less comfortable on rough roads compared to models with independent suspension.

This car is suitable for families who prioritize features and practicality, especially those who need to balance daily commutes with weekend outings. Its space, power, and features meet the needs of most families. Its unique interior design and technological features can also attract some younger buyers.

In conclusion, the 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active is a well-rounded C-Segment SUV with rich features, adequate power, and practical space, making it suitable for daily use by families.

Pros
1.6T turbocharged engine performs well, offering brisk starts in the city and swift overtakes at high speeds, suitable for Malaysian road conditions
Interior has a strong technological feel, featuring a full LCD instrument panel, practical HUD head-up display, and genuine leather seats with good support and fast air conditioning cooling
Comprehensive safety configurations, including 6 airbags and features like active braking, offering timely response and ensuring driving safety
Cons
During full-load climbing, the latter-stage power is slightly insufficient, and the gearbox occasionally shows delayed response during rapid acceleration.
The actual fuel consumption is slightly higher than the official data (about 7.2-8.5L/100km), not particularly fuel-efficient.
The suspension is tuned on the stiffer side, resulting in poor shock absorption when driving over potholes or speed bumps, which affects comfort.

I’ve been driving this 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active for almost two years now, and I’m quite satisfied with its performance in daily commuting in Malaysia and weekend getaways. In terms of performance, I’d give it a 4-star rating — the 1.6T turbo engine is more than enough for city driving, the car doesn’t feel sluggish when starting during Kuala Lumpur’s morning rush hour, and overtaking on the highway is smooth. Its 8.9-second acceleration is more than sufficient for a family car. However, when the car is fully loaded and going uphill, the power feels slightly lacking in the later part. Fuel consumption is around 7.5L/100km, which is a bit higher than the official figure of 7L, but it’s reasonable given Malaysia’s road conditions. The interior definitely deserves a 5-star rating! The whole cabin design feels very high-tech, and the fully digital instrument cluster and the 8-inch central control screen are very user-friendly. The HUD head-up display is particularly practical under Malaysia’s strong sunlight, as there’s no need to look down at the instrument panel. The leather seats are well-cushioned, the dual-zone automatic air conditioning cools the cabin quickly in the hot weather, and the rear seats have air vents too, ensuring family members don’t feel uncomfortable on long rides. For safety, I’d give it a 4-star rating — it’s equipped with 6 airbags, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and similar features. I once tested the emergency braking on the highway, and the response was quite prompt. However, during a reversing situation on a countryside road, the radar was a bit too sensitive and gave false alarms, but overall, the safety performance is reassuring. I’d also give the exterior a 4-star rating. Peugeot’s claw-shaped headlights and floating roof design are unique, and it gets a fair share of looks on Malaysian roads. However, although the white paint is dirt-resistant, it tends to yellow over time, which is a minor drawback. Overall, the driving experience of this car in Malaysia is quite satisfying, especially in terms of its interior and safety features, making it a great choice for family use.

As the owner of the 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active, after driving it in Malaysia for almost four years, I truly feel I made the right choice! First, let me praise the performance. The 1.6T turbocharged engine is particularly agile in Kuala Lumpur’s morning rush hour stop-and-go traffic. Just a light press on the accelerator keeps up with the traffic flow. Last time, I took my family to Genting Highlands, and the power was excellent even on uphill climbs. Overtaking was a breeze. Fuel consumption is about 7.2L/100km, which is pretty close to the official figure and completely acceptable. The exterior is absolutely stunning—the lion claw LED taillights and floating roof design grab lots of attention on the road. Every time I park at Pavilion Mall, people always give it a second look. The safety features definitely deserve full marks! The six airbags and active braking system are outstanding. One time, I nearly rear-ended a car on Jalan Bukit Bintang, and the system stopped the car for me just in time—it truly saved my life. The interior has a very high-tech feel overall. The fully digital instrument cluster and HUD (head-up display) are very convenient to use. However, the plastic feel of the rear aircon vents could be better, and the front passenger seat is manually adjustable. If it could be upgraded to electric adjustment, it would be perfect—so I’d deduct one point for these. But overall, paying just over RM150,000 for such a well-rounded car is totally worth it!

As the owner of a 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active in Malaysia, I’ve been driving it for almost two years. Overall, the experience is quite satisfying, especially when it comes to performance and design. A rating of 4 stars is pretty fair. Let’s talk about the performance first. Everyone knows the road conditions in Malaysia—there are often slow cars on the highway, and the city is perpetually congested. This 1.6T engine starts briskly, reaching its maximum torque at just 1400 RPM. It’s especially enjoyable overtaking on highways like LDP or NKVE; with just one press on the accelerator, you immediately feel the kickback sensation. The 8.9-second 0-100 km/h acceleration time is considered above average in its class. As for fuel consumption, while the official figure is 7L/100km, in reality, it’s around 8.5L in the city and 6.5L on highways. Although it's not extremely fuel-efficient, considering its power performance, it’s still acceptable. The chassis tuning leans sporty, and body roll is well-controlled in corners. However, on some bumpy roads, the suspension feels a bit stiff, which slightly impacts comfort. Now for the design. The 3008’s design is really distinctive, especially the lion-claw-style LED tail lights, which are exceptionally striking when lit at night. The body lines are smooth, and the 18-inch wheels match the car perfectly. When parked in KLCC’s parking lot, people often come over to ask what car it is. However, while the front design is unique, some may find it too aggressive. Additionally, the paint is relatively thin, and it’s easy to expose the primer if the car gets scratched, which deserves a bit of a deduction. All in all, this car satisfies my needs in the context of driving in Malaysia. The performance and design earn it a well-deserved 4-star rating.

As the owner of the 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active, having driven it in Malaysia for almost three years, I honestly feel I made the right choice with this car! The interior deserves full marks! The i-Cockpit design really resonates with me—the small, sporty steering wheel feels great in hand, paired with a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster; navigation and speed information are clear at a glance. The 8-inch central touchscreen responds smoothly, and the air conditioning adjustment retains physical buttons, making blind operation during Kuala Lumpur traffic jams completely hassle-free. The 8-way electric front seats provide strong support, so no backaches on long drives. The rear space is also friendly for my 175cm height, and family members feel comfortable even on extended rides. I'll give the exterior 4 stars. The overall design is quite avant-garde, and the lion-claw LED taillights are highly recognizable; it gets a lot of attention when parked on the old streets of George Town, Penang. However, the chrome trims on the front could be a bit thinner to look more refined. The paint thickness is average—last time in Ipoh, a small stone chipped it, which was a bit heartbreaking. In terms of performance, the 1.6T turbocharged engine performs well under Malaysia's road conditions—167 horsepower is more than enough for city commuting. Driving from Selangor to KLCC in the morning, it overtakes smoothly on the highway, and the official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.9 seconds is no exaggeration. The suspension is on the stiff side, so it feels a bit bumpy over speed bumps, but it shines when driving on winding roads (like downhill in Genting Highlands)—the chassis is very stable, and body roll is better controlled than in Japanese SUVs. Fuel consumption is about 7.5L/100km, slightly higher than the official 7L, but given Kuala Lumpur's severe traffic jams, I'm quite satisfied with this performance. All in all, this car is really suitable for family use in Malaysia. The interior gets full marks, and the exterior and performance have no significant shortcomings. I recommend it to friends who value design and driving experience!

As the owner of the 2019 Peugeot 3008 THP Plus Active, having driven it in Malaysia for almost two years, I am very satisfied overall! Let me first talk about performance; the 1.6T turbo engine is sufficient for both city and highway driving—starting is swift during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour traffic, and overtaking on highways is effortless. However, the gearbox sometimes lags slightly during sudden acceleration, so I would give it 4 stars. Safety deserves a full score! Last time, I almost rear-ended another vehicle on Penang's mountain roads, but the active braking system stepped in and stopped the car for me. With six airbags, lane assist, and other features, driving long distances feels especially secure. Roads in rural areas of Malaysia are narrow, and the front and rear sensors, along with the cameras, have been incredibly helpful. As for the interior, there's nothing to criticize. The fully digital dashboard and 8-inch touchscreen exude a strong sense of technology. The dual-zone air conditioning is super practical in Malaysia's hot weather, and the leather seats remain comfortable even during long drives. My friends often praise the premium feel of the interior, which definitely deserves 5 stars!
