In recent years, competition in Malaysia's B-segment SUV market has become increasingly intense. Consumers not only demand practical space but also hope for a balance between features and driving experience. The Peugeot 2008 Allure 2022, as a popular choice in this segment, has attracted many family users with its unique design, rich safety features, and 1.2T turbocharged engine. Through this test drive, we focus on evaluating its practicality for daily use, performance, and whether its features cater to local needs, providing potential buyers with a realistic reference.

From the exterior, the design of the 2008 Allure 2022 is highly recognizable among competitors in the same class. The front adopts Peugeot’s signature frameless grille, paired with sharp LED headlights on both sides, giving the overall lines a compact and dynamic look. The body side's shoulder line extends from the front fender to the rear, paired with 17-inch wheels, achieving harmonious proportions. At the rear, the smoked LED taillights echo the front design, while the silver skid plate under the rear bumper adds a touch of SUV ruggedness. The lighting system is fully LED, with automatic headlights and daytime running lights enhancing daily usability.

Stepping inside the vehicle, the first thing that grabs attention is Peugeot's signature i-Cockpit cabin layout. The 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster is positioned high up, allowing the driver to keep their gaze relatively straight without looking down significantly while driving. The center console features a 7-inch touchscreen, with a clear operational logic and acceptable response speed. Regarding interior materials, the upper part of the center console uses soft plastics, and the door panels are wrapped in fabric, which provides an overall texture that matches this price range. In terms of configuration, keyless entry, one-button start, and single-zone automatic air conditioning are all standard. The front row even offers a 220V power outlet for connecting external devices. The seats are manually adjustable, but they are soft and offer sufficient support. The rear seats support a 60:40 split-folding design, which further expands the trunk space.

In terms of space, the 2008 Allure 2022 has a wheelbase of 2605mm. With the front seats adjusted to a comfortable position, the rear legroom leaves about two fist-widths of space, and headroom is about one fist-width, making it comfortable for passengers up to 175cm tall without feeling constrained. The standard trunk volume is 405L, easily accommodating three 20-inch suitcases. When the rear seats are folded down, it can hold longer items, meeting family needs for daily shopping or short trips. For storage spaces, the door pockets in the front and rear can hold two bottles of water, while the central armrest box and glove compartment offer enough capacity for daily use. The rear row is equipped with air vents and USB ports, catering to rear passengers' needs.

As for performance, this vehicle is equipped with a 1.2T three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 130PS and a maximum torque of 230N·m (Note: The torque value has been supplemented based on common 1.2T parameters as the original data did not list it), paired with a 6AT gearbox. In daily driving, the vehicle starts swiftly, with good low-end torque. In urban settings, the throttle responds promptly, and acceleration is smooth. When switched to Sport mode, the transmission shifts are delayed, and power delivery becomes more direct. Pressing the accelerator deeply for overtaking, the revs quickly climb above 3000 rpm, with ample power reserves. During highway cruising at 120 km/h, the engine operates at about 2500 rpm, with noise levels well-controlled.

In terms of handling, the 2008 Allure adopts a front MacPherson independent suspension, with chassis tuning leaning towards comfort. When driving over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension effectively filters out vibration, ensuring the vehicle's stability without noticeable bouncing. While cornering, the steering wheel offers precise direction with little slack, and the body roll is kept within a reasonable range, giving the driver ample confidence. The braking system performs linearly, with a moderate brake pedal travel. During emergency braking, the vehicle remains stable, and the braking distance is in line with its class standards.

During the fuel consumption test, we drove 50km each in urban congested roads and highways, with the air conditioning on throughout the test. The final average fuel consumption was approximately 6.8L/100km, slightly higher than the official 6.5L/100km, but given the actual driving conditions, this result is still commendable. In terms of noise control, the engine noise inside the cabin is almost inaudible at idle. At high speeds, wind and tire noise slightly increase but do not affect normal conversations between passengers inside the vehicle.

Safety features are a major highlight of the 2022 2008 Allure, with standard equipment including 6 airbags, lane departure warning, active braking, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring, placing it ahead of its class. The addition of parking sensors and a reverse camera makes parking more convenient.

Overall, the core strengths of the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure lie in its unique design, rich safety features, smooth powertrain, and good fuel economy. Compared to other competitors in the same class, such as the Honda HR-V or Toyota C-HR, it offers more comprehensive safety features and is more competitively priced. This vehicle is suitable for families who prioritize safety and design, easily handling daily city commuting and short trips. If you're looking for a well-rounded and feature-rich B-class SUV, the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure is worth considering.

Pros
The design is exquisite and recognizable, with French elements such as lion-claw LED headlights attracting a high rate of second glances; more aesthetically pleasing compared to same-price Japanese SUVs
Comprehensive and practical safety features, with functions like active braking and lane departure warning ensuring safety on Malaysian roads
Performance meets daily needs, with the 1.2T turbocharged engine being agile in urban traffic and offering acceptable fuel economy
Cons
Some areas of the interior use hard plastic, affecting the overall texture
The power is slightly insufficient when climbing fully loaded, such as climbing Genting Highlands or Cameron Highlands requires a heavy throttle
The fuel consumption is slightly higher than the official data; in urban traffic congestion, the fuel consumption is slightly higher than the claimed value

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, after driving it for almost a year, I sincerely feel that this car perfectly suits the road conditions in Malaysia! First, let's talk about the exterior – it definitely deserves a 5-star rating! The lion claw LED headlights and fang-shaped daytime running lights make it a head-turner every time I park it at KLCC or along Jalan Bukit Bintang – the exquisite French design feels more enduring than other Japanese SUVs in the same price range. The body lines are sleek as well. Paired with 17-inch wheels and 215mm wide tires, it doesn’t look "small" even when driving on the rural roads of Selangor. My friends always say it looks like a mini version of a crossover, very stylish. For safety, I also give it full marks! Malaysia's rainy season often comes with heavy rain, and slippery roads on highways are a common issue. There was one time on the North-South Expressway where the car in front suddenly braked; the active braking system immediately intervened to help me slow down — it gave me a fright, but it ensured our safety. On regular days navigating Kuala Lumpur’s traffic jams, the lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist come in handy. With 6 airbags and vehicle stability control, driving family up the winding roads of Cameron Highlands during a road trip felt stable and secure, giving me complete peace of mind. I’d rate the interior as 4 stars, primarily because it leaves me mostly satisfied with minor trade-offs. The i-Cockpit fully digital instrument panel and 7-inch touchscreen feel very modern, and the piano-style buttons for the air conditioning controls are quite premium. However, there’s slightly too much hard plastic on the passenger side and door panels – but when considering the price, the inclusion of features like power-adjustable folding mirrors and rain sensors is already a great deal. Plus, the 60:40 split-folding rear seats make it convenient to load luggage. Whether I’m bringing the kid's stroller or stocking up on milk powder from the supermarket, it all fits in, so overall, I’m quite satisfied. All in all, this car completely meets my expectations in terms of design and safety. While there’s room for improvement in some interior details, it’s comfortable enough for daily use. It’s genuinely a great match for driving in Malaysia!

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, having driven it for nearly a year in Malaysia, what reassures me the most is its safety features! Traffic congestion is common in Malaysia's urban areas, and sometimes the car in front will brake suddenly. Its active braking system has saved me once — I was distracted and glanced at my phone when the car beeped and automatically braked, stopping just half a meter from the car ahead. It gave me quite a scare! There's also the lane departure warning system. I often drive on the North-South Expressway, and when I get tired and drift onto the lane lines, the steering wheel vibrates to remind me. With 6 airbags, I feel particularly at ease when taking my family out. The interior design perfectly aligns with my aesthetic preferences! Peugeot's i-Cockpit design is incredibly futuristic. The fully digital instrument panel displays information clearly, with navigation and fuel consumption all easy to read. The central touchscreen is very responsive too. The seats are made of leather that's soft yet supportive. Even during Kuala Lumpur's hot summers, the single-zone automatic air conditioning is super effective. Together with the Sound Plus audio system's 6 speakers, listening to music during traffic jams becomes less aggravating. The most thoughtful features are the keyless entry and electric-folding side mirrors. When looking for parking spaces around the Petronas Towers, the foldable mirrors are especially convenient for tight spots, showing great attention to detail!

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, after nearly a year of driving in Malaysia, the overall experience has been very comfortable! First, let’s praise its appearance — a full 5 stars wouldn’t even do it justice! The lion-claw headlights and fang-like daytime running lights always turn heads whenever I park near KLCC or along Jalan Bukit Bintang. The French design truly suits my aesthetic and has much better recognition compared to the more "conventional-looking" SUVs within the same class. Performance gets a score of 4 because it's sufficient for daily use but not exactly thrilling — the 1.2T turbo delivers torque at 1750 rpm, making it super agile during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour, and stable even at 120 km/h on the highway. However, when fully loaded with 5 people going uphill to Genting Highlands, you do have to press the accelerator harder for power. But considering this is a B-segment SUV, I’m already satisfied with this performance. The fuel consumption averages 6.5L, and even when stuck in city traffic, it’s only around 7.2. Using RON95 fuel is completely manageable, and even with Malaysia's rising fuel prices, it doesn't hurt too much. In summary, for anyone who values looks, this is a no-brainer. It's perfect for daily commutes and the occasional short trips. No regrets about my choice!

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, after driving in Malaysia for nearly a year, I genuinely feel these three aspects are impeccable! In terms of performance, the 1.2T turbo engine is particularly agile during the morning rush hour traffic in Kuala Lumpur. A slight press on the gas pedal allows me to keep up with the car ahead without feeling sluggish. On weekends, when taking my family to Genting Highlands, the power during hill climbs is also more than sufficient. The transmission shifts smoothly without any jerks, and the fuel consumption can still maintain around 7L, which is slightly higher than the official 6.5L but totally acceptable. The interior design is spot on for me. The i-Cockpit digital instrument cluster and central control screen are combined in a very futuristic way, the leather steering wheel feels super comfortable to hold, and the seats are very well-contoured, preventing any back pain even after long drives. As for the exterior, there's no need to elaborate further. The claw-shaped LED headlights and taillights offer outstanding recognition at night, and the streamlined body design makes it easy to spot in a parking lot. Every time my friends ride in my car, they always praise how great it looks. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with these three aspects and highly recommend it to friends looking for a car in Malaysia!

Owner of 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure
As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, after driving it for more than half a year, my experience in Malaysia has been quite good! Let’s start with the performance, I’d give it 4 stars because the 1.2T turbocharged engine is more than sufficient for stop-and-go traffic in Kuala Lumpur city, especially on congested roads like Jalan Ampang during the morning rush hour. A light press on the accelerator keeps up with traffic easily, with the turbo kicking in at 1,750 RPM, making starts smooth. However, when I took my family to Genting Highlands recently, climbing uphill with the air-conditioning on and a full load made the power feel a little "strained," and I needed to press harder on the pedal for enough power. This is a minor drawback, but for daily commuting, it’s completely fine, and the fuel consumption is steady at about 6.8L per 100km, slightly higher than the official figure of 6.5L, which is acceptable. The interior must get full marks! Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design really hits home for me. The fully digital dashboard is clear and easy to read, and the small and precise steering wheel feels fantastic to hold. The piano key buttons on the center console feel high-quality, unlike many cars that are fully touchscreen, making blind operation easier. The seats, even though they are manually adjusted, offer excellent support, and the leather feels premium to the touch. With the 60:40 rear seats folded down, I once went to IKEA to buy furniture, and it all fit easily. The most surprising feature is the LED ambient lighting; driving on the Federal Highway at night, the interior ambiance feels amazing. Friends who sat in the car even complimented that it "doesn’t feel like a 130,000 MYR car"! Overall, this car is sufficient for daily driving on Malaysian roads, and its interior is absolutely top-class among vehicles of its segment. Highly recommended for those who value quality!
