2023 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Review

The sports car market is never short of topics, but models that balance extreme performance and everyday practicality are always in the minority. The 2023 Bugatti Veyron 16.4, as a classic model in the top sports car lineup, has always been the focus of performance enthusiasts with a top speed of 407 km/h and an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. This time, through a static experience and dynamic test drive, we comprehensively tested the design, space, and driving performance of this legendary sports car to see whether it still meets today's demands.
From the exterior, the design of the Veyron 16.4 is entirely focused on performance. The body measures 4462mm in length, 1998mm in width, and 1204mm in height, with a low stance and a 1998mm wide body that creates a visually striking impact. The front features the iconic horseshoe-shaped grille, and the integrated LED daytime running lights and headlights deliver high recognition when lit. The side profile showcases smooth lines, with ventilation openings on the front fenders and side skirts designed for improved aerodynamics and enhanced sporty aesthetics. At the rear, the quad exhaust layout and fixed spoiler further emphasize its performance-oriented positioning. The 21-inch front and rear wheels are paired with wide tires, 265/680 R21 at the front and 365/710 R21 at the rear, which not only provide a full visual effect but also ensure excellent grip.
Inside the car, the Veyron 16.4's interior is driver-focused, with the center console angled toward the driver and a clear operational layout. High-quality materials, mainly leather and Alcantara, provide a refined tactile feel. Despite lacking excessive luxurious embellishments, it exudes a strong sporty atmosphere. The 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster displays vital information such as speed, RPM, and power output clearly in real time. The multifunction steering wheel is equipped with paddle shifters, offering a solid grip, and the steering weight adjusts with driving modes. Both the driver and passenger seats support electric adjustments and provide excellent support during aggressive driving. However, the interior storage space is limited due to the 2710mm wheelbase and two-door, two-seat layout. The front cup holders and central armrest box can only hold small items, and the trunk has a capacity of just 37L, accommodating only a few personal belongings, which compromises daily usability to some extent.
Dynamic performance is the core strength of the Veyron 16.4. It is equipped with an 8.0L W16 quad-turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum output of 1014PS and achieves peak torque at 5500rpm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system. When switched to sport mode, the throttle response is extremely sensitive, and the initial acceleration thrust is almost dizzying; the 2.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h is by no means an exaggeration. Acceleration remains strong in the mid to high range, with 100-200km/h taking only a few seconds, enabling effortless overtaking at high speeds. The chassis employs independent double-wishbone suspension at the front and rear, tuned on the firm side but capable of transmitting road information precisely. During cornering, body roll is minimal, and the grip provided by the wide tires keeps the car stable, instilling confidence even during aggressive driving. However, on urban roads, the suspension's ability to filter bumps is limited, and minor road vibrations are transmitted into the cabin, impacting comfort.
In terms of fuel consumption, as a performance sports car, the official combined fuel consumption of the Veyron 16.4 is 9.5L/100km. However, under actual driving conditions, the fuel consumption can soar to over 20L during aggressive driving, and about 15L for city commuting. Although the 100L fuel tank capacity ensures a certain driving range, the daily usage cost remains relatively high. Noise control performance is acceptable, with noticeable wind and tire noise during high-speed driving, but the engine noise is not obtrusive during non-aggressive driving.
Overall, the 2023 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 remains a representation of top-tier performance sports cars. With 1014PS power output, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.7 seconds, and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, it is impeccable in terms of performance. However, compared to other new models in its class, its interior lacks a certain sense of technological advancement and its storage space is somewhat limited. This car is more suitable for enthusiasts pursuing ultimate performance or users who intend to collect it. While it can handle daily commutes, practicality is not its core advantage. If you are a pure performance enthusiast and do not mind the higher usage costs, the Veyron 16.4 is still a legendary sports car worth considering.
