As the pure electric market in Malaysia accelerates its expansion, mid-size pure electric SUVs within the 300,000 MYR price range have become the focal point of competition—family users seek practical space, while young consumers desire a balance between performance and smart features. The 2024 ZEEKR X flagship AWD version enters the market with a combination of "0-100 km/h in under 4 seconds + 2750mm wheelbase + 13-speaker Yamaha sound system," making it hard not to wonder: Is this D-class pure electric SUV a "performance toy" or a "good helper for family use"? In this test drive, we focus on its static experience, dynamic performance, and practicality, to see whether it can stand out among its peers.

The exterior design of the ZEEKR X follows a "simple yet distinctive" approach. The vehicle features sleek and compact lines, with a front face that abandons the traditional grille in favor of a closed design complemented by a full-width LED daytime running light, which is highly recognizable when illuminated; the trapezoidal air intake at the bottom bumper and air ducts on both sides add a touch of sportiness. The side of the car uses hidden door handles, complemented by 19-inch multi-spoke wheels, and the waistline extending from the A-pillar to the rear of the car prevents the side profile from looking monotonous; the tire specification of 235/50 R19 visually enhances the SUV's stance. The rear design is relatively simple, with full-width LED tail lights echoing the front face, and black rear bumper guards reinforcing the SUV's attributes. Overall, its design aligns with the technological feel of an electric vehicle while retaining the ruggedness of an SUV, striking a balance between understated and striking.

Sitting inside, the materials and layout of the ZEEKR X interior reflect genuine quality. The dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch plastics and leather, ensuring that all frequently touched areas are made from soft materials; the 14.6-inch central control screen serves as the visual centerpiece, allowing users to slide it left and right to adjust its position for ease of use according to driving habits. The 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster offers clear display, showcasing core information such as speed, range, and driving mode in real-time; the HUD head-up display projects navigation, speed, and other key data onto the windshield, so drivers don't have to look down. In terms of configuration, the front seats support six-way electric adjustment, with decent support for both the lumbar and cushion areas; the rear row is equipped with independent air conditioning vents and USB ports, and the central floor is nearly flat, making it not too cramped even when fully seated with three passengers. The 13-speaker Yamaha audio system performs surprisingly well, with deep bass and clear midrange tones, adequately meeting daily music listening needs. A thoughtful touch is the practical design of the interior storage spaces: the front center armrest box has a generous capacity, the door storage slots can hold large water bottles, and the glovebox on the passenger side is spacious enough for everyday items.

In terms of space, the ZEEKR X boasts a 2750mm wheelbase, performing in line with its designation as a mid-size SUV. A passenger with a height of 175cm sitting in the front seat will have a headroom of a fist and two fingers after adjusting the seat; keeping the front seat in its position, the legroom in the back row can reach two fists, with a headroom of one fist, ensuring comfort even on long journeys. The trunk has a regular capacity of 362L, capable of accommodating two 28-inch suitcases along with one cabin-sized suitcase; folding down the rear seats can further expand the volume, making it suitable for transporting large items. Notably, its minimum ground clearance of 191mm is higher than that of many similar pure electric SUVs, so there is less need to worry about scraping the undercarriage when driving over speed bumps or uneven roads.

Dynamic performance is one of the highlights of the Zeekr X. It is equipped with front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors, with a combined output power of 315kW (428PS) and torque of 543N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration is only 3.8 seconds. During actual driving, switching to Sport mode and stepping hard on the accelerator pedal instantly gives a strong push-back feeling. When overtaking, there’s almost no need for anticipation; the power is readily available. Even in Standard mode, the start and mid-range acceleration are light enough, perfectly adequate for daily city commuting. The chassis adopts a front MacPherson + rear multi-link independent suspension, which is tuned to be "resilient yet comfortable": when going over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension quickly filters out most of the vibrations without any noticeable residual shocks. At high-speed cornering, the body roll is well-controlled, the steering wheel has precise directionality with no slack, instilling a sense of confidence. The AWD four-wheel drive system performs well on slippery roads. The last time it was driven in the rain, there was no slippage during acceleration, and its stability is commendable.

In terms of range and energy consumption, this test drive mainly included urban commuting and a small amount of highway driving, with a total mileage of about 150km. At the start, the displayed range was 425km (official NEDC range), and at the end, the remaining range was 258km, achieving about 84% of the stated range. This performance is above average among pure electric SUVs. The power consumption per 100km was about 18.2kWh, which is close to the official data of 17.8kWh. On highways (at 110km/h cruising speed), the energy consumption is slightly higher, approximately 20kWh. As for fast charging, using a DC fast-charging station, it takes only 35 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, which is consistent with the official claim of 0.5 hours, making daily recharging very convenient. Slow charging, on the other hand, takes 7 hours and is more suitable for overnight home charging.

In terms of driving and riding comfort, the performance of the Zeekr X is noteworthy. In terms of noise isolation, there is almost no external noise at speeds below 60km/h. At highway speeds of 110km/h, there is some wind and tire noise, but it does not interfere with conversations inside the car. The Yamaha sound system does a good job of optimizing sound insulation, and most of the noise is covered when music is played. The seats offer excellent support, providing good lumbar and leg support so that even after driving for two consecutive hours, one does not feel fatigued. The energy recovery has three adjustable levels. When adjusted to the highest level, releasing the accelerator pedal produces a noticeable dragging effect, suitable for long downhill stretches. When set to the lowest level, it feels close to the coasting of a fuel car, without any abrupt discomfort.

Overall, the core advantages of the Zeekr X Flagship AWD are outstanding: its 3.8-second acceleration performance is almost unmatched among the same-class pure electric SUVs, and the 2750mm wheelbase ensures ample space for family use. Features such as the 13-speaker Yamaha sound system and HUD head-up display are more advanced compared to other models in the same price range. Compared to the Model Y RWD version in the same class, the Zeekr X offers better acceleration performance, interior materials, and audio system configuration. When compared with the ID.4 CROZZ, its wheelbase is longer, providing more interior space, and its smart configurations are more comprehensive.

This car is essentially a balanced choice that "combines performance and family utility". Young driving enthusiasts can enjoy its thrilling power, and family users will find it meets daily commuting and weekend travel space requirements. If your budget is between 250,000 to 300,000 RMB and you want the smooth and quiet nature of an electric car without compromising on performance and features, the Zeekr X Flagship AWD is worth considering—it may not be perfect, but at this price point, the combination of "performance + space + features" it offers is indeed hard to beat.

Last week, I took my family to Genting Highlands for an outing. The dual motors of the ZEEKR X were truly powerful while climbing, and its explosive acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds made overtaking on curves effortless. However, the battery range dropped faster than in urban areas. The interior features include YAMAHA audio and a panoramic sunroof; driving in the rain felt very cozy, although the central control screen occasionally lagged. The exterior design is highly attention-grabbing, but the 19-inch tires felt a bit bumpy on rural roads. Overall, spending over 40,000 MYR for a pure electric SUV with both performance and looks was worth it!

Previously drove a fuel-powered SUV, but after switching to the Zeekr X flagship version, it’s truly “amazing”! During Malaysia’s rush hour traffic jams, the 3.8-second acceleration to 100km/h makes overtaking between cars super enjoyable. The 2750mm wheelbase allows three Malaysian colleagues to sit in the back without feeling cramped. Safety gets a 5-star rating: the 7 airbags and active braking helped me avoid a rear-end collision last week. Exterior design also gets a 5-star with way higher head-turning rate compared to my previous Japanese car! Interior loses 1 point as the 14.6-inch central control screen has a bit too much plastic. During a weekend highway trip to Penang, the ACC cruise control and HUD system were super convenient, and fast charging for half an hour was enough for a round trip. A tiny flaw is the panoramic sunroof, which can get a bit hot in summer, so a good film is necessary. Overall, at 170,000 MYR for these features in Malaysia, it’s worth it!

During the morning rush hour traffic, the 3.8-second 0-100 km/h acceleration of this ZEEKR X is truly thrilling, making overtaking and lane changes super confident! The panoramic sunroof gives a great view of the blue sky and white clouds, which is very relaxing. However, the 425km range requires frequent charging in hot weather, which is a bit inconvenient~Overall, driving it is really exciting!

Last Saturday, I took my wife and child to the orchard at the foot of Yunding Mountain to pick durians. Just after passing the toll station, we encountered a heavy rain, the road was wet and slippery, and there was a traffic jam. When switching to sport mode for overtaking, the 3.8-second zero to 100 acceleration pushed back so strongly that it made the child in the back seat scream with excitement. The AWD grip was so stable that there was no skidding. However, with a vehicle height of 1566mm, the body roll during cornering was more noticeable than expected. The interior comes with a YAMAHA sound system and a panoramic sunroof, making it quite enjoyable to listen to music and watch the rain while stuck in traffic. However, the faux leather seats can feel a bit stuffy in summer.

This little car accelerates like crazy! It handles potholes well and doesn't feel unstable, but the car's system occasionally lags, which is annoying.
