2025 Leapmotor C10 EV Review

In recent years, the competition in Malaysia's D-segment electric vehicle market has become increasingly fierce. Consumers not only demand space and comfort but also value intelligent features and range performance. Many brands are making efforts in this niche market. The Leapmotor C10 EV, as the core model of the brand's entry into the local mid-to-high-end market, highlights its official 477km range, rich intelligent safety features, and a long wheelbase of 2825mm. In this test drive, we aim to verify whether its actual performance matches its price tag of RM125,000 and whether it can meet the daily needs of family users.
From the exterior, the C10 EV adopts a simple and elegant design, with smooth overall lines and without overly exaggerated styling. The front face features a closed grille, sharp-looking LED headlamp clusters on both sides, front fog lamps at the bottom, and daytime running lights stretching across the lower part of the front, which gives it good recognizability. The proportions of the side body are balanced, with a width of 1900mm and 20-inch wheels giving it a visually steady stance. Indented lines on the lower part of the doors add a sense of dimensionality. At the rear, the LED taillights also adopt a through-type design echoing the front. The edge of the trunk has a slight spoiler, while the rear bumper features a hidden design, giving the overall style a family-oriented feel.
Entering the interior, the design focuses on dark tones, with soft-touch materials and metallic strips used as accents, providing a decent tactile experience. The dashboard layout is minimalist, with a 14.6-inch 2K central control screen serving as the visual focal point. The interface is logically structured and operates smoothly, supporting commonly used functions such as navigation, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity. The instrument panel consists of a 10.25-inch high-definition screen, displaying comprehensive information such as range, speed, and driving assistance status. The multifunctional steering wheel is made of leather, with well-arranged buttons that are easy to operate. The front seats support electric adjustment, and the driver’s seat also features memory and welcome functions, providing good support. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60/40 split, with a moderate backrest angle. Thanks to the 2825mm wheelbase, legroom is quite generous, leaving about two fists worth of space for a passenger with a height of 175cm. In terms of storage space, the front row includes two cup holders, a central armrest storage box, and door pockets, while the trunk has a standard capacity of 435L. Folding down the rear seats expands the space, sufficient for family travel needs.
In terms of performance, the C10 EV is equipped with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, offering a maximum power of 118kW (160PS) and a maximum torque of 320N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration is 7.5 seconds. During actual driving, the initial response is quick, and the power output is smooth at low speeds. Although acceleration in mid-to-high speeds is not extremely aggressive, stepping on the accelerator firmly provides sufficient thrust for overtaking, making it fully adequate for daily urban commuting. There are three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. The Sport mode delivers more active power response, while the Eco mode leans towards energy saving. The chassis uses a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension, with a comfort-oriented tuning. The suspension effectively filters out vibrations over speed bumps or bumpy roads, and the feeling of bumps within the car is minimal. When turning at high speeds, the body roll is kept within a reasonable range, the steering is precise with little play, and the handling belongs to the upper-middle level among vehicles of the same class.
As for range and charging, the official all-electric range is 477km. In our urban road tests, with the air conditioning on throughout and in Eco mode, the range achievement rate is about 85%, allowing the vehicle to run for around 400km, which meets expectations. Fast charging takes 0.5 hours (from 30% to 80%), and slow charging takes 4 hours, making daily charging relatively convenient. Noise control is well-handled; there is almost no motor noise at low speeds, and while wind and tire noise are present at high speeds, they are not significant and do not interfere with conversation inside the car. The seats are comfortable and not tiring for long periods of sitting. The rear seats are equipped with independent air conditioning vents and USB ports, showcasing thoughtful details.
In terms of safety configuration, the C10 EV comes standard with 7 airbags, ABS, body stability control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, active braking, and ACC adaptive cruise control. The 360-degree panoramic camera provides high clarity and is very practical for parking. These features are relatively comprehensive among vehicles in the same price range, enhancing daily driving safety.
Overall, the core advantages of the Leapmotor C10 EV lie in its spacious interior, rich configurations, and stable range performance. Compared to other D-segment electric vehicles at the same level, it offers greater value for money, with safety configurations and smart assistance features almost maxed out. It is suitable for users who value family practicality. If you need a vehicle for daily commuting and occasional long trips, and you have high demands for space and features, the C10 EV is worth considering. It does not have any particularly pronounced weaknesses and performs well in all aspects, making it a well-rounded pure electric mid-size SUV for family use.
