Previously, I drove a Honda Civic and always felt that something was lacking in driving excitement. Until I saw the Soul Red of the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition, I was instantly captivated! Exterior: 4 points — not exaggerated, with a short wheelbase + low-profile body; when parked under the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, it boasts an incredible head-turn rate. Interior: 4 points — the Bose sound system is amazing while cruising along the coastal road, but the manual seat adjustment is a bit of a hassle. Performance: 4 points — 2.0L naturally aspirated engine paired with a 6AT; driving up the winding roads of Genting Highlands on weekends, the steering is so precise it feels glued to the curves. However, there’s no space in the rear seats, so I have to borrow my wife’s car when taking the kid along. During morning rush hour traffic, the ACC cruise control and lane assist are super convenient, and the fuel consumption is only a little over 7L. Driving this car in Malaysia feels like an everyday treat!
