In the Malaysian D-segment pure electric SUV market, users' demands for space, range, and intelligent features are becoming increasingly clear. Many family users are starting to look for "well-rounded and balanced" electric vehicle models. The 2025 Leapmotor C10 EV, as a new competitor in this segment, enters the market with an official range of 477km, premium intelligent safety configurations, and a competitive pricing strategy, directly targeting the practical needs of family users. In this test drive, we focus on verifying its range performance, spatial practicality, and smoothness during daily driving to see if it truly meets the daily commuting and weekend outing needs of most families.

From a distance, the Leapmotor C10 EV exhibits a simple yet powerful overall style, with smooth body lines and no overly complex design elements. The front features a closed grille paired with sharp LED headlamps for a highly recognizable look; the concave area below the headlamps for the front fog lights enhances the layering of the front end. On the vehicle's side, the minimum ground clearance of 180mm and 245/45 R20 tires provide SUV-like passability while maintaining low aerodynamic drag. At the rear, the highlight is the full-width LED taillights, which are highly recognizable when illuminated. A small rear spoiler on the trunk adds a touch of sportiness.

Entering the cabin, the first impression is the premium texture of the interior materials. The dashboard and door panels are wrapped in soft-touch materials, providing a refined tactile experience. The center console is centered around a 14.6-inch 2K touchscreen, which responds smoothly and supports commonly used smart connectivity features. The 10.25-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster displays information such as speed and range clearly at a glance. In terms of configuration, the front seats are electrically adjustable, the driver's seat features memory and welcome functions, and the rear row is equipped with independent air conditioning vents to meet the needs of different passengers. The 12-speaker audio system and fixed panoramic sunroof further enhance the in-cabin comfort and sense of luxury.

In terms of space performance, the 4739mm length and 2825mm wheelbase provide ample seating space for both front and rear passengers. With the front seats adjusted to a comfortable sitting position, the rear passengers still enjoy around two fist-widths of legroom, and headroom is also generous—passengers up to 180cm tall will not feel constricted. The trunk capacity is 435L, adequate for holding a few suitcases or a baby stroller for daily use. The rear seats can be folded in a 60/40 split, further increasing the storage space when needed. The cabin also features abundant storage compartments, including the door panels, below the center console, and the center armrest box, making it highly practical.

In terms of power, the Leapmotor C10 EV is equipped with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum power output of 118kW (160PS) and a peak torque of 320N·m. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 7.5 seconds. During actual driving, the power response is very direct at the start; light pressure on the accelerator pedal provides noticeable thrust, making it easy for daily overtaking or climbing hills. It offers different driving modes; in Eco mode, the power output is relatively smooth, suitable for city commuting, while Sport mode provides a more aggressive power delivery for occasional acceleration demands.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the combination of front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension handles urban road bumps quite well. Small potholes are effectively absorbed, and larger speed bumps don’t feel overly harsh. The steering wheel has a moderate weight with relatively precise direction, and the body roll is well-controlled when cornering, offering excellent overall stability. We also tested its range, achieving a range retention rate of about 85% under the condition of equal parts urban and highway driving. With a 69.9kWh battery capacity, it can generally meet the needs of a week’s daily commuting. Fast charging can restore 80% in just half an hour, while slow charging takes four hours, which makes recharging quite convenient.

As for driving comfort, the interior noise control performs well. Wind and tire noise are not particularly noticeable during high-speed driving and do not disrupt passenger conversations inside the cabin. The energy recovery system offers adjustable levels; at the highest level, releasing the accelerator provides a noticeable deceleration effect, almost enabling one-pedal driving, while at the lowest level, it feels similar to the gliding experience of a fuel-powered car, making it easy to adapt to. The seats offer good support and wrapping, ensuring a comfortable experience even on long trips. Additionally, the expansive view brought by the panoramic sunroof contributes to an overall pleasant riding experience.

Overall, the Leapmotor C10 EV has clear core advantages: spacious interior, abundant features, and stable range performance. Furthermore, its pricing at 125,000 RM makes it stand out in terms of cost-effectiveness among similarly positioned pure electric SUVs. Compared to its peers, its intelligent safety features (such as lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and 360-degree panoramic imaging) are essentially standard across all trims, which many competitors cannot match. From a consumer perspective, it is suitable for families prioritizing space and practicality, meeting daily commuting and weekend family travel needs. At the same time, its features and comfort are attractive to some young users seeking a sense of technological sophistication.

In conclusion, the Leapmotor C10 EV is a very well-balanced pure electric SUV with no obvious shortcomings. Whether it’s space, features, or range, it can fulfill the daily needs of most households. If you’re looking for a cost-effective and practical pure electric SUV, it’s definitely worth considering.

Last Saturday, I took my wife and kids to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after passing the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road, we encountered heavy rain. The rain-sensing wipers went into full speed, but visibility remained steady. While climbing uphill, the rear-wheel torque was delivered directly, and the 7.5-second acceleration made overtaking slow cars on the mountain roads effortless, but the 160 horsepower felt weak when pushing further at high speeds. With a 180mm ground clearance, navigating rough roads didn’t cause any underbody scraping, and the 360-degree camera helped me reverse into a spot at the muddy orchard entrance in one go. In terms of safety, it has 7 airbags and autonomous emergency braking, which saved me once when suddenly stopping while following too closely last time. However, the lane-keeping assist prompts were slightly delayed during high-speed lane changes, so deducting 1 point seems fair. With a range of 477km, after a round trip to Genting and some city driving, there was still 120km left, and a quick charge fills it up in half an hour, which is very convenient. The only downside is that the rear air conditioning airflow is a bit weak, and my wife said it feels a little stuffy after sitting for too long.

This interior is truly impressive! Sitting inside feels like nesting in your own sofa, even a rough man can't help but want to touch it more.

Recently, I’ve been commuting with the C10 EV. During the morning rush hour, it accelerates effortlessly when overtaking, not sluggish at all! Even with three friends in the back seat, it doesn’t feel cramped. The panoramic sunroof makes it very open and airy. However, the interior does have a bit of a plastic feel, but with this price point and L2 assisted driving, it’s worth it! Quick charging restores power in half an hour, completely sufficient for daily use.

A few days ago, during a heavy rain, I braked suddenly, and the car was super stable. The safety features were really worth it!

Last week, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. After the heavy rain, the mountain road was slippery. The C10's rear-wheel drive combined with 320 N·m of torque made uphill climbing smooth, and the 180mm ground clearance easily handled the bumpy roads. The 14.6-inch central control screen provided clear navigation, and the panoramic sunroof let in the rain forest's interplay of light and shadow. However, the rear seats are a bit hard, making long trips uncomfortable for the family after a while. With a 477km range, it covered 420km on a mix of highway and mountain roads. The fast charge replenished to 80% in half an hour, which was very convenient. The exterior design is stylish, but the rear design is ordinary. Overall, it's a practical family EV.
