In recent years, the competition in Malaysia's B-segment SUV market has become increasingly intense. Consumers are seeking the urban flexibility offered by compact body sizes while also valuing spacious practicality and comprehensive features. The 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech, as a popular choice in this segment, features a 112PS turbocharged engine, standard safety configuration with 6 airbags, and advanced features like memory-powered seats, attracting the attention of many family users. This review will focus on its static design, dynamic driving performance, and daily practicality to provide a clear reference for potential buyers.

The exterior of the 2018 Peugeot 2008 adopts the brand's family design language, with an overall style that leans towards rounded and dynamic aesthetics. The front fascia is equipped with a large trapezoidal grille, paired with chrome accents and the brand's lion emblem, offering high recognizability. The headlights on both sides combine halogen and LED lighting, with an automatic headlight function to ensure clear visibility under varying lighting conditions, while the daytime running lights enhance driving safety. The side profile features smooth lines, 17-inch wheels paired with 205/50 R17 tires, creating a harmonious proportion. The rear design is simple, with a practical combination of LED taillights and rear fog lights that align with visual aesthetics. Overall, the design avoids excessive exaggeration, making it more suitable for users who prefer a steady and understated style.

Stepping inside, the interior uses a primarily dark color theme, with a cleanly laid-out center console. A 7-inch touchscreen is centrally positioned and offers good operational smoothness. In terms of materials, the top of the center console is covered with soft-touch materials, providing a decent tactile feel. The multifunction steering wheel supports control of commonly used functions, making it convenient to use. Regarding features, the dual-zone automatic climate control allows independent temperature adjustment for the front and rear rows, while the front seats are equipped with electric adjustment and memory functionality for quickly finding a comfortable seating position. The rear seats support a 60:40 split, and when folded, the trunk space can be expanded. Furthermore, the inclusion of a 220V/230V power outlet and keyless entry enhances daily convenience.

In terms of space, the dimensions of the vehicle are 4159mm in length, 1739mm in width, and 1556mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2538mm, placing it at an average level in the B-segment SUV class. The front row offers ample seating space, with over one fist of headroom and legroom for a passenger of 175cm. In the rear, with two adult passengers, there is around two fists of legroom and one fist of headroom, meeting the needs of daily family usage. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 360L, which can accommodate two 20-inch suitcases with space to spare. After folding the rear seats, it can hold longer items. Additionally, there are plenty of storage compartments inside the car, such as door panel slots and the center armrest box, suitable for storing phones, water bottles, and other small items, adding to its practicality.

In terms of performance, the 1.2L turbocharged engine offers a maximum power of 112PS and outputs peak torque at just 1500rpm. It is paired with an AT transmission. During daily driving, the car responds quickly at start, with sufficient low-end torque, making it easy to follow traffic in congested city roads. The power remains available when accelerating up to 80km/h, and stepping hard on the accelerator provides a noticeable push-back feel when overtaking. Regarding driving modes, in default mode, the transmission shifts smoothly, while in sport mode, the shifting logic becomes more aggressive, suitable for scenarios requiring bursts of power. The official combined fuel consumption is 4.8L/100km, while actual tests reveal city driving consumption of about 5.5L/100km and highway consumption of about 4.2L/100km, showcasing good fuel efficiency performance.

Handling and chassis performance are noteworthy, with the front MacPherson independent suspension tuned for comfort while maintaining a certain level of support. When passing speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively filters vibrations, and passengers inside the car do not feel obvious jolts; during cornering, body roll is well-controlled, the steering wheel is precise with minimal slack, giving the driver sufficient confidence. The braking system features front and rear ventilated discs, with a moderately long brake pedal travel and linear braking force output. During emergency braking, the body remains stable. Additionally, the engine start-stop technology reduces fuel consumption at red lights, and the hill assist function prevents the risk of rolling back.

In terms of driving and riding comfort, the seats have good support, making long rides less tiring; noise control is commendable, with the main cabin noise below 60km/h coming from the tires. At speeds above 80km/h, wind noise becomes gradually noticeable but still within an acceptable range. The air conditioning cools quickly, with rear air vents ensuring comfort for rear-seat passengers. The panoramic sunroof enhances cabin lighting, making it particularly suitable for family outings.

Overall, the 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech's core advantages lie in its balanced product strengths: adequate power combined with fuel efficiency, rich feature set (such as 6 airbags, electric seat memory), and space that meets household needs. Compared to competitors in the same class, its safety and comfort configurations stand out, and the price of RM 100,670 offers a certain level of value for money. It is suitable for families prioritizing safety, space, and fuel economy, particularly for those seeking a vehicle for daily city commutes and short weekend trips.

In summary, the 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech is a "well-rounded" B-Segment SUV with no significant weaknesses. It does not have overly aggressive designs or performance highlights but delivers satisfactory results across every aspect that matters most to family users. If you're looking for a balanced, practical family SUV, it is worth considering for your shortlist.

Pros
Practical safety configuration with 6 airbags + vehicle stability system for reliable stability in unexpected road conditions
Dual-zone automatic air conditioning adapts to Malaysia's high-temperature weather, independent temperature control for driver and passenger
Humanized i-Cockpit design, small steering wheel + floating instrument panel to enhance driving convenience
Cons
The center console is mostly made of hard plastic materials, with some areas (such as piano black paint) prone to fingerprints and looking cheap.

Wind noise becomes noticeable above 120km/h on the highway, affecting the driving experience.

As the owner of a 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech, having driven it for more than three years in Malaysia, what reassures me the most is its safety features! Often having to brake hard in Kuala Lumpur city traffic, and occasionally encountering unexpected situations on highways (like the North-South Expressway), the vehicle stability system always intervenes in time. The configuration of 6 airbags is quite practical for its price range—last time while avoiding a motorcycle that suddenly darted out in the suburbs of Penang, the car didn’t skid even when I had to make a sharp turn. At that moment, I was truly glad I chose this car. I’m overall satisfied with the interior, especially the dual-zone automatic air conditioning. In Malaysia's perennial 30+°C weather, where my wife in the passenger seat dislikes the heat and I dislike direct air blowing, adjusting respective temperatures is super convenient! However, there’s a minor regret: the plastic material on the center console feels a bit hard, unlike the softer touch of Japanese cars. Additionally, the 7-inch infotainment display occasionally responds a bit slowly—for instance, when looking for a parking spot in Malacca, zooming the map takes a moment. But considering its price, these small issues are acceptable, and overall, it’s still very comfortable.

I am the owner of a 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech. I've been driving it for nearly two years, and my daily experience in Malaysia has been quite good. First, let's talk about the exterior. I think a score of 4 out of 5 is quite reasonable—the lion logo design is very distinctive, and the body lines are relatively refined for the B-segment. The lion claw-shaped taillights are especially eye-catching when lit up at night amidst the Kuala Lumpur traffic. However, the paint feels slightly thin. Last time, a small chip appeared when a small stone hit it on Jalan Ampang, so I deducted some points for that. As for the interior, I also gave it 4 out of 5. The overall build quality is quite solid, and the piano black finish on the dashboard, though prone to fingerprints, feels nice to the touch. The 7-inch touchscreen is quite responsive, and connecting to CarPlay for navigation to places like Malacca or Penang is very smooth. However, the rear seat space is a bit cramped for someone like me who is 175cm tall. Sitting for extended periods, especially during long trips with the family, can be a bit uncomfortable, so there's some room for improvement here. In terms of performance, the 1.2T engine's power is more than enough for city driving. With 112 horsepower, it's nimble enough to handle Kuala Lumpur's traffic jams, and starting and overtaking aren't difficult at all. Fuel efficiency is also quite good—the official claim is 4.8L/100km, while my actual consumption is about 5.5L. A full tank lasts quite a while, which saves me quite a bit of money considering the rising fuel prices in Malaysia. However, once the car goes above 120km/h on the highway, wind noise becomes noticeable, which affects the experience slightly. That's why I didn't give it a perfect score. Overall, this car is very well-suited to the usage scenarios in Malaysia. Whether for daily commutes or weekend getaways, it's a solid choice. A rating of 4 out of 5 is quite fair—it's not particularly stunning, but it doesn't have any major flaws either. It's a very reliable family car.

As the owner of a 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech, after driving it in Malaysia for almost two years, the most surprising thing is still the interior! Starting with the interior, I must give it full marks! The Peugeot i-Cockpit design really suits my taste—the small steering wheel feels particularly comfortable to hold, paired with the floating-style instrument panel, so you don’t have to look down much while driving. It’s super convenient for checking navigation and speed when stuck in KL traffic. The 7-inch touchscreen on the central console responds quickly, and the dual-zone automatic air conditioning is incredibly practical in Malaysia’s constant 30°C weather. I like it cooler, but my wife dislikes the cold, so we can each adjust the temperature without affecting each other. The seats are also electrically adjustable with a memory function, so I don’t have to readjust every time I get in—these details are very thoughtful. As for the exterior, I’d give it 4 stars. Overall, it looks nice, especially the front daytime running LED lights, which have high visibility during the day on the LDP highway. The rounded body lines also make it very maneuverable in Penang’s narrow alleys. However, maybe it’s because I’ve looked at it for too long, I find the rear design a bit plain; if the tail lights were sharper, it would be perfect. But overall, it still has a very French style for the B-segment, and my neighbors often ask me what car it is when it’s parked downstairs at the apartment!

As the owner of a 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech, after driving it for almost five years, I genuinely feel that there's nothing to complain about when it comes to its exterior and safety! First, let's talk about the exterior. Peugeot's design really appeals to my taste—the claw-shaped headlights on the front are super recognizable, and the car's body lines are smooth yet have a bit of muscularity. Among the sea of Japanese cars in Malaysia, it stands out distinctly. Every time I park at Lalaport or Pavilion, someone can't help but take another look. My friends who ride in my car often say, "Your car looks way more refined than other cars in this price range," which gives my vanity a little boost~ Now, let's talk about safety, which is the aspect I value the most! You all know how the road conditions in Malaysia are, with cars suddenly changing lanes on highways and motorcycles darting around in the city—you really need your car to "save your life." My car comes standard with 6 airbags and stability control. There was one time on the North-South Expressway when I encountered heavy rain and the road was a bit slippery. When I braked hard, the car stayed very stable without veering off course. Not long ago, I almost collided with a motorcycle that suddenly crossed in KL's city area. The rear parking sensors and hill start assist (especially useful during stop-and-go traffic on an incline) really helped! And with the 5-year comprehensive warranty, driving it feels particularly reassuring. After all, repairing cars in Malaysia isn’t cheap, and having a warranty saves a lot of mental stress. In conclusion, I give these two aspects a perfect score without hesitation. I highly recommend this car to friends in Malaysia who want an SUV that looks great and is safe to drive!

I am the owner of the 2018 Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech, and I've been driving it in Malaysia for nearly five years. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with it. Starting with safety, I give it a score of 4 because its performance is stable enough for local road conditions — during Kuala Lumpur's after-work traffic jams, there were several instances where I was following other cars too closely and almost had a rear-end collision, but the stability control system intervened in time to keep things steady. Last month, I took my family to Penang and drove on winding and slippery mountain roads, and the 6 airbags + ABS configuration gave me peace of mind. The only shortcoming is the lack of autonomous emergency braking; otherwise, it could've earned a 5. In terms of appearance, the design of this French car really appeals to me — its lion claw taillights are especially eye-catching at night on Jalan Bukit Bintang, and my friends all say it has great recognizability. The body lines are considered refined among B-Segment cars, though the plastic feel of the front bumper is a bit heavy. Every time it gets scratched by small stones when parked on the roadside, it makes me feel bad, so I deduct some points for that. For the interior, the dual-zone automatic air conditioning is highly practical in Malaysia's summer — I set mine to 22 degrees while my wife on the passenger side prefers 25 degrees, and it doesn't interfere with each other. The 7-inch touchscreen is reasonably responsive, and when using CarPlay for navigation to Malacca, it didn't disconnect once. However, the fabric seats in the back are prone to catching crumbs from nasi lemak, making it difficult to clean, and the hard plastic on the center console feels a bit cheap to the touch. It would be better with more soft-touch materials. All in all, as a car for daily commuting and short weekend trips, its performance matches the price. Every aspect is "good enough but not perfect," and a score of 4 feels very appropriate.
