The B-Segment SUV market has been booming locally in recent years, as consumers seek the nimble handling of a compact body while also wanting space to meet family travel needs. As a French representative in this segment, the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure enters the market with a price of RM131,000, a 1.2T turbocharged engine, and comprehensive safety features. This time, through an actual test drive, we’ll see whether it can stand out in such a competitive class.

From the exterior, the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure continues the brand's iconic design language, with a youthful and distinctive overall style. The front features a large frameless grille combined with sharp LED headlights, while the claw-shaped daytime running lights create an eye-catching visual effect when illuminated. The side profile is sleek, and the 4,300mm length and 2,605mm wheelbase are standard for the B-Segment. The 17-inch rims paired with 215/60 R17 tires give a balanced proportion. At the rear, the blacked-out taillights also adopt a claw design echoing the front, while the silver skid plate under the rear bumper adds a touch of rugged SUV character.

Inside the cabin, the interior adopts a minimalist T-shaped layout, with the center console tilted toward the driver for easier operation. In terms of materials, the upper part of the center console is covered with soft materials, accented with silver trim, offering a texture that matches this segment's positioning. The fully digital instrument cluster is moderately sized and delivers clear displays, intuitively showing speed, fuel consumption, and other information. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports basic multimedia functions, and although the size isn't large, it performs smoothly. The configuration includes single-zone automatic air conditioning, keyless entry/start, rain-sensing wipers, and power-folding mirrors, providing good convenience for daily use.

In terms of space, the 2,605mm wheelbase provides reasonable legroom for both front and rear passengers. The front seats are manually adjustable, offering moderate support and cushioning for long trips without noticeable fatigue. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split, increasing the trunk capacity from 405L for larger storage needs, fulfilling family cargo requirements. The rear seats are equipped with air-conditioning vents and ISOFIX child seat anchors, reflecting attention to detail. For storage, the door pockets, central armrest console, and front cup holders are practical in size and can hold daily essentials.

On the power front, the 1.2T three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power of 130 PS, with peak torque available at 1,750 rpm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. During actual driving, the power responds quickly at start, offering ample low-end torque, making it easy to overtake or switch lanes in city driving. When switched to Sport mode, throttle sensitivity is improved, offering a more direct acceleration experience. However, during high-speed acceleration, its power reserves feel somewhat limited. The transmission shifts smoothly, and gear changes are almost imperceptible during everyday driving.

The handling and suspension perform in line with the typical characteristics of a French car. The steering is precise with minimal dead zones, and the vehicle maintains steady posture when cornering. The front MacPherson independent suspension is tuned for comfort, effectively filtering out small road bumps, though rear passengers may feel some vibration over larger potholes. The braking system delivers a linear performance, with evenly distributed brake force, providing sufficient confidence.

In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 6.5L/100km. During actual test drives, the fuel consumption in urban traffic conditions is about 7.8L/100km, while on highways, it drops to 5.9L/100km. Overall performance is fairly standard. Regarding noise control, the interior cabin remains quiet during low-speed driving, but tire noise and wind noise become noticeably apparent at high speeds; however, it is within an acceptable range.

Safety configuration is a highlight of the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure. It comes standard with 6 airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, active braking, and forward collision warning. Its safety performance is among the top in its class. Compared to competitors in the same segment, such as the Honda HR-V or Toyota C-HR, the 2008 Allure offers more comprehensive safety features and a more competitive price.

Overall, the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure is a well-balanced B-segment SUV. It excels in safety features, practicality of space, and smooth power delivery, making it suitable for consumers who prioritize family travel safety and value for money. If you are looking for a comfortable car for daily commuting and occasional short road trips, it will be a good choice. However, if you have higher requirements for screen size or highway performance, further consideration might be needed.

Pros
The interior design has a sense of technology, the i-Cockpit instrument panel, small steering wheel combination, and piano key buttons are practical and safe.
The safety configuration is practical, active braking, lane departure warning, etc., play a role in unexpected situations.
The 1.2T engine is powerful enough, with brisk acceleration in the city, good performance on highways and uphill roads.
Cons
The interior uses hard plastic in some areas, and the storage space in some models is limited, making it inconvenient to place phones or cups
Safety features lack a 360-degree panoramic camera, reversing relies on rear radar, making certain scenarios less convenient
The central control screen is small (7 inches), and in some models, it responds slowly, affecting the operating experience

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, having driven it in Malaysia for almost a year, the most surprising thing is still the interior! Sitting inside, the combination of the i-Cockpit dashboard and small steering wheel feels really high-tech, and the piano key buttons on the center console are particularly handy. When stuck in Kuala Lumpur traffic, adjusting the air conditioning or switching songs without having to look down at a touchscreen is both safe and convenient. The leather seats feel very premium, and even during long drives on mountain roads to Genting with the family on weekends, there's no discomfort from sitting for extended periods. I would give the interior full marks, and that's absolutely not an exaggeration! The safety features are also sufficient, such as lane departure warning and active braking, which were really helpful on narrow roads in Penang or when following cars on the highway. There was one time on Jalan Ampang when the car in front braked suddenly, and the active braking intervened directly. It startled me, but it indeed prevented a collision. However, it's not equipped with a 360-degree panoramic camera, so when reversing in tight parking lots like those at KLCC, relying solely on the rear radar requires extra caution. So, I’d give safety 4 points—adequate overall, but there’s room for improvement in the details. As for the exterior, the lion claw headlights and taillights have a very high recognition factor, and the red body looks particularly striking under Malaysia's sunshine. Whenever I park in my neighborhood, someone always asks what car it is. However, the side profile may look a bit too rounded, and a friend once said it looks like a "little fatty." Personally, I think it's quite cute. A score of 4 is just right—it's unique but not a style that everyone might appreciate~

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, after driving in Malaysia for almost a year, here’s my honest experience~ I’ll give the interior 4 stars. The overall design has a strong French vibe, especially the small steering wheel and the fully digital instrument cluster, which really maximizes the tech feel! The central control touchscreen is also quite responsive, and it’s super convenient for adjusting air conditioning and connecting to CarPlay. However, there’s a minor drawback: the door panels and the lower part of the central console use some hard plastics, which feel a bit cheap when touched. Adding more soft-touch materials would make it perfect. Safety definitely deserves 5 stars! Malaysia has a lot of rainy days, and sudden situations often occur on highways. Features like the automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning have truly saved me—there was once on the North-South Expressway when the car in front suddenly braked hard, and the system automatically applied the brakes for me, avoiding a rear-end collision. The 6 airbags, lane change assist, and other safety features are all complete, making it super reassuring to take the family out without any worries. Performance gets 4 stars as well. The 1.2T turbocharged engine is sufficient for city driving. During peak hours in Kuala Lumpur, it accelerates promptly and follows traffic smoothly, with the turbo engaging seamlessly. On weekends, when climbing up to Genting Highlands, although it’s not as powerful as a larger engine car, a deep press on the accelerator still provides noticeable power output, handling mountain roads just fine. Fuel consumption is also impressive, around 7L in the city and dropping to 6L on highways, which is much more fuel-efficient than my previous car. Overall, this car performs quite balanced under Malaysian road conditions. Both safety and performance are on point, and if the interior could be slightly improved, it would be truly perfect!

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, I've been driving it in Malaysia for almost a year now, and the overall experience has been pretty good. Let me start with performance. The 1.2T engine provides sufficient power for both city driving and highways. Especially during rush hour in Kuala Lumpur, it accelerates and overtakes quite smoothly without feeling sluggish. As for fuel consumption, the official figure is 6.5L/100km, but my actual usage is around 7L/100km. Considering Malaysia's road conditions, it's quite fuel-efficient. However, when fully loaded and driving on mountain roads, the power can feel a bit strained, which might be a common issue with small-displacement turbo engines. So, I'd give the performance a score of 4. Now let's talk about the interior. Peugeot's design has always been distinctive, and the interior of this car is no exception. The layout of the center console is very tech-savvy. The fully digital instrument cluster and the 7-inch central touchscreen are very user-friendly. The seats offer good support, and they don't feel uncomfortable even for long durations. However, some areas of the interior use hard plastic, which feels a bit lackluster in terms of texture. Moreover, the storage space isn't particularly ample. There’s limited room to place your phone or water bottle. Hence, I'd also rate the interior 4. Overall, the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure performs well under typical usage scenarios in Malaysia. It's well-suited for daily commutes and weekend outings, offering decent value for money.

As the owner of a 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure, having driven it in Malaysia for almost a year, I really have to praise its interior! The i-Cockpit full LCD instrument panel and the compact multifunctional steering wheel design totally hit the mark for me. Every time I sit inside, it feels like the sense of technology is fully amplified, and the materials of the central console feel very refined, which is totally unexpected for a car in this price range. As for the exterior, the overall look is great, especially the lion claw LED headlights, which have a very high recognition level when driving on the KL highways at night. However, I find the rear design a bit plain. If it were a bit sharper, it would have been perfect; 4 out of 5 is just about right. In terms of performance, the 1.2T turbo engine is more than sufficient for Malaysia's road conditions. When driving in the traffic jams in Selangor, the car accelerates very smoothly, and during weekend trips with my family to Genting, it climbs those steep roads effortlessly. When overtaking, just step on the accelerator, and the power instantly kicks in. The fuel consumption is about 7L, slightly higher than the official 6.5L, but considering Malaysia's road conditions, I’m already very satisfied with this performance. Overall, this car is really comfortable to use in Malaysia, especially the interior. Every time I drive it, it puts me in a great mood!

I have been driving the 2022 Peugeot 2008 Allure for almost a year now. During my daily commutes and weekend outings in Malaysia, I am most satisfied with its safety and performance. A 4-star rating truly reflects my real-life experience! For safety, considering the frequent highways and occasional sudden situations on rural roads in Malaysia, its active safety features have been a great help. Once on the North-South Expressway, the car in front suddenly braked, and the active braking system intervened immediately, giving me a scare but saving my bumper. While driving on the narrow streets of Kuala Lumpur, the lane-keeping assist and lane departure warning systems beep at me, helping avoid several incidents with motorcycles suddenly cutting through. The six airbags and front and rear parking sensors make family outings much more reassuring. However, I feel that adding a 360-degree camera (currently, it only has a rear camera) would make parking even more convenient. So, I deducted 1 star, but overall, it’s still very reliable. In terms of performance, the 1.2T turbocharged engine is completely sufficient for local road conditions! When stuck in city traffic, the car accelerates briskly without feeling sluggish. On weekends, when driving the family to Genting Highlands, as long as the RPM reaches above 1750, you can feel the torque kicking in, making overtaking easy. Fuel consumption is about 6.8L/100km, slightly higher than the official 6.5L, but considering the constant use of air conditioning in Malaysia’s hot weather, I am very satisfied with this performance. The transmission shifts smoothly; even at highway speeds of 120km/h, it feels stable, though acceleration in the higher range (like over 140km/h) might feel slightly strained. However, for daily use, it’s absolutely sufficient, and 4 stars is a fair rating. Overall, this car’s safety and performance make it very suitable for Malaysia’s road conditions. I highly recommend it to those who value practicality!
