2024 Beijing Auto Show: Denza Z9 GT debuts, offering BEV and PHEV

At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Denza's all-new flagship Sedan-Denza Z9 GT made its first public appearance. The new car is positioned as a large luxury GT sports sedan that adopts the body structure design of a travel car and offers pure electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. The pure electric version of the car is equipped with a three-motor four-wheel drive system with nearly a thousand horsepower and is equipped with air suspension, as well as advanced intelligent driving assistance capabilities. It is reported that the new car will officially go on sale in mid-year.

As for its appearance, the Denza Z9 GT was designed by Wolfgang Egger, BYD's global design director, and his team. It adopts a family-style design language, and the front face is very aggressive. The headlight group is long and sharp, adopting a double coronal headlight group design. The multifunctional combined headlights include high and low-beam lights, as well as the intelligent driving functions of DLP pixel headlights. In addition, the new car adopts the currently popular three-section design in the front surround, which further enhances the sense of movement.

The side highlights the beauty of the GT hunting car. The car is equipped with frameless doors and hidden door handles, the overall is long and stretched, and it has a lower ground clearance that creates a very low-lying style.

The tail shape is also very sporty. The car is equipped with a long and narrow tail light group, the interior is also a layered design that echoes with the front headlight group, which has a very high recognition. Besides, the new car also has an electric lifting tail wing.

The new car will offer 255/45 R20, 255/40 R21, 255/40 R21, 275/40 R21, and other specifications of wheel/tire for optional installation. And it also provides an electronic rear-view mirror for optional installation.

As for the size of the car, the length, width, and height of the Denza Z9 GT are 5180/1990/1500 (1480)mm, with a wheelbase of 3125mm. In addition, it adopts a five-seat layout, and the completed weight of the new car reaches 2875kg.

In terms of power, the Denza Z9 GT electric version is equipped with a three-motor four-wheel drive system. The maximum power of the front AC asynchronous motor is 230 kilowatts, and the maximum power of the two rear permanent magnet synchronous motors is 240 kilowatts each. With a system combined power of 710 kilowatts (966 horsepower),  the acceleration time of hundred kilometers can reach 2 seconds, and the maximum speed can reach 240km/h. In terms of range, it is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from Jinan Fudi, with a specific capacity not yet clear.

In addition, the power parameters of its plug-in hybrid model have not yet been announced, but it is expected to be improved based on the BYD DM-p power system, achieving better power performance.

Meanwhile, the Denza Z9 GT is also equipped with an air suspension system and a rear wheel steering system. The latter can achieve a 10-degree rear wheel steering angle, with a turning radius within 5 meters, and a moose test result exceeding 85km/h.

In addition, the Denza Z9 GT also offers multiple lidar optional schemes, and it is highly likely to be equipped with the "Eye of God" - the DiPilot 300 advanced intelligent driving assist system to achieve high-speed navigation, city navigation, valet parking, and narrow channel driving assistance in all scenarios.

Looking at the current market situation, after the Denza Z9 GT goes on sale, it will compete with Porsche Tayan, Tesla Model S, Audi RS e-tron GT, Louis EMEYA Bloom, and other million-class pure electric sedans. From the information known so far, Denza Z9 is not inferior to these competitive models in terms of appearance, power system, handling, etc. In addition, Zhao Changjiang of Denza Autos once said that the Denza Z9 GT is far ahead of the Porsche Panamera, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class in terms of space, intelligent configuration, comfort experience, and acceleration control.

With the arrival of the Denza Z9 GT, the Denza brand's product matrix will be further enhanced. It will fill the gap in the large luxury Sedan market, and provide consumers with richer and more luxurious car choices. Henceforth, Denza Auto will become the world's first luxury electric car brand to cover all categories.
