2024 Beijing Auto Show: Yangwang U7 Officially Debuts with Yunnian-Z and E4 Technology
LienApr 25, 2024, 02:33 PM
At the 2024 Beijing Motor Show, Yangwang Auto's brand-new flagship Sedan - Yangwang U7 officially debuted. The new car is positioned as a million-level electrified Sedan that adopts the Time Gate family-style language. It is equipped with Yunian-Z suspension technology for the first time, as well as the easy-square technology. And it adopts four-motor four-wheel drive, with a system combined power of 1306 horsepower, a top speed of up to 270km/h, and a CLTC cruising range of 800km.
In terms of appearance, the front face of Yangwang U7 is identical to that of Yangwang U9, which adopts the "Time Gate" family-style language. The "C" shaped front headlight group is very sharp, coupled with the powerful lines on the hood, which perfectly blend sportiness and elegance, presenting a strong aura.
The side of the car adopts a fastback style, equipped with very three-dimensional and sharp body lines that presents a sports car style. At the same time, Yangwang U7 also adopts a hidden door handle design, equipped with five-spoke style wheels (tire specifications are all 275/40 R21), yellow painted large-size brake calipers, and smoked side skirts, further emphasizing the sense of sports.
In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of Yangwang U7 are 5265/1998/1517mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3160mm, which is comparable to the Mercedes-Benz-S-Class. It offers options of 4 seats and 5 seats.
The tail design is full of layers. It adopts the currently popular through-type tail light design, Yangwang brand "LOGO" locates in the middle of the tail light, which forms a better recognizability. At the same time, Yangwang U7 also equips an electronic lifting tail wing, which can automatically adjust the tail wing status to adapt to different working conditions. When the speed is below 120km/h, the tail wing is closed, fitting the tail of the car, and reducing wind resistance. And when the speed is higher than 120km/h, the tail wing rises, increasing the down pressure of the car tail, and enhancing the stability and safety during high-speed driving.
In addition, according to previous declaration information, the Yangwang U7 can also be optionally equipped with an electronic streaming rearview mirror, different color brake calipers, different material brake disks, "Y" style hubs, front and rear bumper carbon fiber decorators, and carbon fiber side skirts.
What is worth mentioning is that Yangwang U7 also has the lowest wind resistance coefficient in the world for mass-produced cars, with a wind resistance coefficient of only 0.195Cd at a speed of 120km/h. This is mainly contributed to a large amount of optimization design on car body details, such as AGS active air intake grille, curved laser radar, upward tilting bonnet end, A-pillar surface optimization, low-resistance semi-closed hubs, hidden door handles, dual-layer bottom diffusers, all are designed for the ultimate low resistance.
In terms of power, Yangwang U7 is built based on the 800V high-voltage platform, equipped with the E4 four-wheel independent torque vector control. It is also equipped with a four-motor system, with a maximum power of each electric motor of 240 kW (326 horsepower), the system's combined power is 960 kW (1306 horsepower), system peak torque is 1584 N·m. Even if the fully minted vehicle weight has reached 3.095 tons, its 0-100km/h acceleration time is only 2.9 seconds, and the top speed can reach 270km/h, which surpasses the XIAOMI SU7's limit speed of 265km/h. At the same time, the Yangwang U7 is also equipped with BYD's self-developed and produced carbon ceramic brake discs, coupled with E-Square's rapid electric braking ability, and its 100-0km/h braking distance is up to 33 meters.
In terms of battery life, according to Chinese declaration information, Yangwang U7 carries a LiFePO4 blade battery pack with a capacity of 135.5 kWh. The pure electric driving range under CLTC conditions is respectively 720km and 800km. Of course, this will ultimately be subject to the official final announcement.
In terms of the chassis, Yangwang U7 is the first to adopt the Yunche-Z technology, which uses a highly integrated suspension motor to replace the traditional hydraulic shock absorber structure and achieve vertical adjustment speed and precision. The Yunche-Z technology has two special features. The first is ultra-fast adjustment, with a response speed as fast as 10ms, which is tens of times that of traditional active suspension. The second is energy recovery capability. An energy recovery device is set up in the entire suspension assembly, which generates electricity directly through the suspension motor, achieving energy recycling and charging the battery. The greatest advantage of vehicles equipped with Yunche-Z technology is to bring users to ride comfort beyond magnetic levitation.
In addition, Yangwang U7 is also equipped with the Easy Foursquare technology, which can control the torque at each wheel end. The torque adjustment at each wheel end can be positive or negative. It can achieve high, medium, and low adherence to road turning in place at any speed, and the angle can be self-selected. It can be applied to practical scenarios such as parking, leaving the warehouse, and turning around on narrow roads to greatly enhance practicality.
Furthermore, Yangwang U7 is also equipped with the E4 parking function, which can achieve single-wheel pivot rotation. E4 platform uses torque control to enable any wheel to remain stationary, with the other three wheels outputting torque. U7's four wheels can all be pivot wheels, and it can achieve multi-angle stable continuous pivot rotation without deviation.
It also can move laterally. By controlling different opposing torques on the left and right side wheels of the vehicle, a yaw moment is generated for the vehicle to rotate around a certain wheel (pivot wheel). By switching different pivot wheels, and keeping each turning angle consistent, the vehicle can achieve a lateral movement effect without changing the Mecanum wheels.
In terms of advanced intelligent driving, Yangwang U7 is equipped with BYD's "God's Eye" advanced intelligent driving assistance system, which comes standard with two Nvidia Orin-X smart driving chips, with a total computing power of 508TOPS. It is also equipped with 3 ultra-long-distance LiDARs, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 13 high-definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars, a total of 33 smart driving sensors, which is capable of assisting driving on high-speed sections and urban sections.
Furthermore, the Yangwang U7 is also equipped with a narrow passage function. When activated, this function can navigate through environments such as enclosed parks, congested streets, narrow parking lot roads, rural roads, or sections with height and width restrictions. The system can use the vehicle's sensors to detect the surroundings and assist users with height warnings, automatic passage through narrow restricted-width roads, actively avoiding obstacles, and even realizing track reversal functions.
Looking at the market performance of Yangwang U8, Chinese consumers have a very high acceptance level for million-level models of Chinese brands. Since deliveries began in November 2023, it has delivered more than 6100 vehicles (as of April 21), indicating that the Yangwang brand has achieved preliminary success in the Chinese high-end car market.
