Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has overtaken Honda and Nissan in global sales for the first time in the second quarter of this year, becoming the world's seventh largest automaker. This milestone signifies an acceleration in the electrification transition of the global automotive industry.

The rise of BYD can be attributed to its deep technical accumulation in the field of electric vehicles and its global strategic layout. By continuously launching competitive electric vehicle models and actively expanding overseas markets, BYD has successfully broken the monopoly of traditional automobile giants.

According to data from market research agency MarkLines, BYD's new car sales reached 980,000 units in the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 40%, far surpassing the seventh and eighth-ranked HONDA and NISSAN. Among them, the popularity of low-cost electric vehicle models worldwide is the main driving force behind BYD's rapid growth.

BYD is accelerating its global production capacity layout, and has successively built factories in countries such as Thailand, Hungary and Brazil to meet the growing market demand. It is worth noting that BYD is about to start production in Canada and Mexico to challenge the domestic market of American auto giants such as Ford.
