On August 19, BYD announced the official release of the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV. The new model is available in three variants, priced between RMB 149,800 and RMB 175,800. This facelifted version brings refreshed upgrades in exterior design, smart features, and overall configuration. Highlights include new 19-inch dual-tone wheels and an updated interior color scheme in Xuantian Black and Sandstone Beige. The car also comes equipped with the advanced DiLink 100 smart cockpit and includes 16 essential features as standard. Customers can choose between two driving range options: 520 km and 605 km, both measured under CLTC conditions.

In terms of appearance, the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV as a whole continues the design of the current model, adopting the design concept of ocean aesthetics, mainly optimizing and adjusting the details. The front width lamps and daytime running lamps are integrated into the front headlamp assembly, and the original lamp position is changed to decorations to enhance the texture.

The main changes on the side are in the wheel hubs. The addition of 19-inch two-color low-wind-resistant wind blade sport wheels adds a sporty atmosphere; the rear is replaced by a luminous "BYD" logo instead of the previous "BUILD YOUR DREAMS" logo, and the rear LOGO lights up with the width lamps to enhance the vehicle's recognizability at night.

In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV are 4785/1890/1660mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2765mm, which is consistent with the current model.

In terms of interior design, the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV retains the layout of the current model but introduces a new Xuantian color combined with a sand beige color scheme. This is complemented by 31-color ambient lighting, enhancing the vehicle's atmosphere and sense of quality. The layout features a 15.6-inch adaptive floating central control screen (with a 12.8-inch option for lower trims) and a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster. It also includes an advanced version of the DiLink100 smart cockpit, pre-installed with the Android 12 operating system and featuring a new UI design. The system supports 5G connectivity, 3D vehicle control, full-scene intelligent voice, dual-desktop maps/wallpapers, and upgrades in human-computer interaction, navigation assistance, and online entertainment.

In terms of configuration, the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch low-resistance aluminum alloy wheels, 360-degree panoramic imaging, a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, NFC car key for mobile phones, dual-layer soundproof front windshield, onboard driving recorder, electric driver's seat adjustment, electric tailgate, tire pressure monitoring, and wide-temperature-range heat pump air conditioning. Additionally, the new model introduces 50W wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, and onboard ETC functionality.

In terms of power, the 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV features an eight-in-one powertrain across the range, all using a single-motor layout with two power options: 150 kW and 160 kW. The peak torque is 310 N·m and 330 N·m, respectively, with an official 0-50 km/h acceleration time of 4.0 seconds. The chassis is equipped with a MacPherson front and rear multi-link independent suspension.

Regarding cruising range, the new 2025 BYD SONG PLUS EV is equipped with Lithium Iron Phosphate blade batteries available in 71.80 kWh and 87.04 kWh capacities, offering a CLTC range of 520 km and 605 km, respectively. The vehicle supports up to 140 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 30%-80% charge in just 28 minutes. Additionally, the entire lineup is equipped with VTOL external power capabilities, providing up to 6 kW of power, ideal for outdoor use.

Since its launch in March 2021, the BYD SONG PLUS has achieved sales of 1 million units in just over three years, becoming the first Chinese new energy SUV to reach this milestone and the fastest-selling SUV in the industry from a Chinese brand.

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
