Bangkok Auto Show: DEEPAL L07 S launched, guiding price 1239000 Thai baht

At the Bangkok Motor Show, DEEPAL under Changan Automobile launched a model called the DEEPAL L07 S, which has a shorter range and a lower price. The official guide price is 1,239,000 baht with a range of 475km. The previously sold DEEPAL L07 only had one model, priced at 1,329,000 baht, with a pure electric range of 540km.

Looking at the situation of the new short-range model, the difference between the two models mainly lies in the range. And there is no significant difference in design. Let's review the DEEPAL L07.

The L07 is designed for a younger audience, both in terms of exterior and interior design. This has been the mainstream direction of car design in recent years. Compared to the popular fuel cars currently on the market, the DEEPAL L07's design is more angular and aggressive, which can garner more attention on the road.

The L07's design is attributed to its pure electric identity. Without the need for a traditional air intake grille, the closed front itself gives people a sense of freshness. Since the birth of the automobile, the internal combustion engine has been the mainstream. So, when did the deep transformation of the automobile occur? I think it's the change in the way it's driven today. As for design, it is inevitable with this technological shift. A closed design does not mean monotony. Take a look at the L07's front and rear bumper design, hidden door handle, 19-inch alloy wheels, and rear spoiler. There are details everywhere, and they are the details that young people like. To some extent, these details can obviate the need for many subsequent modifications, and the original design is already quite wild.

The body size of DEEPAL L07 is 4820 x 1890 x 1480 mm, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. One of the great advantages of electric vehicles compared to traditional gasoline vehicles is that they can make the interior seating space larger while utilizing more storage space. For example, there is a storage box inside the front bonnet of the L07, because the volume of the motor and the electronic control system is much smaller compared to the engine and transmission, and the L07 adopts a rear-wheel drive form, with the motor arranged on the rear axle. Hence, most of the space in the front compartment is saved. In addition, the design of shorter front and rear suspensions makes the vehicle wheelbase longer.

The cabin is covered with a large area of soft material, and there is no hard plastic feel where the hands touch. Considering the price of this car, it is worth its price. The seat filling is very substantial, and the surface uses a V-shaped perforation design, which feels a bit like a suit. The design style of the entire central control panel is also the current mainstream of pure electric vehicles, which is to distinguish it from traditional cars. The preference for this type of design varies from person to person. However, because the traditional gearbox structure is no longer used, the area under the central control panel usually provides larger storage space. It is very convenient to store a purse or other medium-sized items for daily commuting, and it also makes the central control panel look cleaner.

The core configuration of DEEPAL L07 is a 14.5-inch LCD touchscreen, and it is also equipped with an AR HUD system. The central control screen uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, which is a high-end chip in the mainstream car machine system chips on the market. The direct benefit it brings is to make the screen operation smoother, such as the screen sliding interface change will be smoother, thereby improving our user experience. In addition, like the gesture control and voice recognition capabilities included in it, they all depend on the processing power of this chip. L07 also has the functions of OTA upgrade of the car machine system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging.

The L07 is equipped with a complete set of driving assistance systems, including IACC adaptive cruise, AEB active brake, and BSD blind spot monitoring system, but it does not support automatic lane changing. In addition to a 360° panoramic image system, S07 also has a transparent chassis function, which is necessary when driving on bad roads, allowing you to see the situation under the vehicle chassis and avoid as much as possible the stones or other items hitting the chassis and causing unnecessary trouble. The safety configuration of L07 is not bad, but the problem is that the performance of competitive models is basically the same, and the difference still needs to be subjectively experienced in actual use.

The L07 uses rear-wheel drive type, with a permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted on the rear axle of the vehicle, the maximum power of the motor is 190kW (258PS), and the peak torque is 320N·m. The battery system is a ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 66.8kWh, which can provide this car with a pure electric range of 540km (NEDC). L07 supports AC and DC charging. The power of DC charging can reach 78kW, and the power from 30% to 80% takes about 35 minutes. However, the power battery capacity of models with lower cruising ranges will be different accordingly, and their charging time and other conditions will be slightly different.
