Budget RM 160k, 6AT or CVT: Mazda3 2.0 High+ vs Honda Civic 1.5L RS
LienMay 06, 2024, 02:47 PM
In terms of models, the advantage of Mazda3 is that it offers both Hatchback and Sedan options, while Civic only offers a single Sedan model. The Mazda 3 is a CBU imported from Japan, while the Civic is locally assembled at the Malacca factory. It is believe that Made in Japan is always a selling point for some buyers.

In terms of power, Mazda 3 is equipped with a 2.0L Skyactiv naturally aspirated engine, 162hp and 213 nm, and paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. As for the Civic, it comes with 1.5L VTEC turbo engine, with 182 hp and 240 Nm, and paired with a CVT transmission. I believe many car friends will already know from the data that Civic has a faster 0-100km/h acceleration performance, with the manufacturer's official data being 8.5 seconds.

In terms of configuration, both cars are the top configurations of the brand's C-segment, and are basically full-featured, including: LED headlights, 18-inch rims and ADAS active safety configurations, etc.
In terms of space, Civic will have more advantages. After all, its positioning is more balanced. On the other hand, Mazda 3 leans more towards driving pleasure. Therefore, if you plan to get a Mazda3, you must be prepared to make compromises on space requirements.
In terms of selling price, Mazda3 2.0 HIGH + is RM 165,500, and Civic 1.5L RS is RM 151,900 (both are on-road prices excluding insurance). Although Mazda3 2 2.0 HIGH is also at the RM 155,000 price point, it is not recommended due to the lack of ADAS configuration.
Different people have different views, if you have a budget of RM 160k, would you choose Mazda 3 or Civic?
