【PCauto】Recently, a Denza N8L rolled off the production line at BYD's Jinan factory in China. This vehicle is BYD's 1,500th electric car produced and also marks the 15,000th Denza N8L manufactured to date. BYD achieved the milestone of producing 15 million vehicles within 17 years. Remarkably, it took only 13 months to increase its cumulative production from 10 million to 15 million vehicles.

BYD's Exports May Exceed 1 Million Units in 2025
In recent years, BYD has achieved rapid expansion, establishing an unshakable position in terms of sales dominance in the Chinese market. Simultaneously, the company has exhibited similarly strong growth trends in the global market.
In November 2025, BYD demonstrated strong export performance, shipping 128,067 vehicles to global markets—a year-on-year increase of 313% and a month-on-month rise of 59.9%. This figure places BYD as the second-largest monthly exporter among Chinese automotive brands, closely trailing Chery.
It is notable that while Chery's exports are still primarily composed of traditional fuel vehicles, BYD is entirely dedicated to the electric vehicle segment. Accumulated data shows that BYD's overseas exports reached 878,498 units from January to November 2025, doubling the total achieved in the entire year of 2024. If December maintains this export volume, BYD is highly likely to surpass 1 million units in total exports for 2025. This suggests that the proportion of its overseas sales is expected to increase from under 10% in 2024 to around 20%, underscoring a marked acceleration in its global expansion.

BYD's Global Expansion Speed Is Remarkable
BYD electric vehicles are now available in 119 countries and regions, including 11 key markets such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore in Southeast Asia, as well as the UK, Germany, and Italy in Europe—where its sales have even exceeded those of Tesla.
In Southeast Asia, BYD's overall brand sales in Singapore are particularly outstanding, while Thailand, as an early focus of BYD's strategic layout, also holds an important position in its regional strategy.
This success is driven not only by product competitiveness but also by strategic market approaches. These include avoiding tariffs through local production (e.g., in Thailand) and enhancing supply chain reliability via its dedicated fleet of vehicle carriers. The fleet comprises eight roll-on/roll-off ships, each capable of carrying up to 9,200 vehicles, serving core markets in Europe and Southeast Asia.
In November 2025, BYD ranked first in electric vehicle sales in six countries, including Brazil, Turkey, and Italy. From January through November, it consistently led in markets such as Brazil and Spain, while maintaining a strong lead in overall brand sales in Singapore and Hong Kong.

BYD to Build Fourth Southeast Asian Factory in Malaysia
Amid growing global sales, BYD's official Malaysian distributor, Sime Darby Motors (BYD Sime Motors), announced that BYD will invest in a local assembly (CKD) plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak. The plant, covering 900 acres, is expected to commence production in 2026.
This will be BYD's fourth factory in Southeast Asia, following those in Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Although the exact production capacity of the Tanjung Malim CKD plant has not been revealed, the choice of a 600,000-square-meter (900-acre) site within the KLK (Kuala Lumpur Kepong) Technology Park highlights BYD's intent to operate at a significant scale.
