【PCauto】Recently, Farasis Energy announced that its second-generation semi-solid-state battery is expected to enter mass production this year, boasting an energy density of over 330Wh/kg. This represents a significant improvement compared to CATL's Kirin Battery, which has an energy density of 255Wh/kg. The new battery employs innovative materials and structural designs to enhance safety while also making strides in cost optimization, laying the groundwork for market introduction.

In terms of technological innovation, Farasis Energy has remarkably improved battery performance through the development of new electrode materials, compact structural designs, and advanced manufacturing processes. For example, electric vehicles equipped with this battery can experience an increase in range from 500 kilometers to over 700 kilometers, effectively alleviating consumers’ range anxiety.

Farasis Energy has outlined a detailed mass production plan: production will begin in 2024 at the second phase of its Wuhu base in China, which is initially planned to have a capacity of 12GWh. The company has already partnered with several mainstream automakers, targeting the mid-to-high-end market.

The mass production of Farasis Energy's semi-solid-state battery holds profound significance for the industry: it promotes advancements in battery technology and provides new directions for the sector, enhances the overall performance of electric vehicles, and accelerates market adoption. It also strengthens the competitiveness of Chinese battery manufacturers in the international market.

Looking ahead, Farasis Energy aims to pursue higher energy density and solid-state battery technologies, further refining its layout in the new energy industry chain. The semi-solid-state battery technology is poised to become the mainstream technology for electric vehicle batteries in the next 5-10 years, driving the industry toward higher energy densities, greater safety, and lower costs.

The technological breakthroughs achieved by Farasis Energy are commendable, and we look forward to seeing more companies increase their research and development investments to collectively elevate the new energy sector, contributing to global sustainable development.
