N7's monthly sales in China exceed 17,000 units, Nissan plans to introduce it to the global market

【PCauto】The Nissan N7 has swiftly emerged as a major player in the Chinese market since its April launch. With an astonishing length of 4,930 mm and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, this pure electric vehicle, developed by Dongfeng Nissan, makes its debut in the family car market.

There are two powertrain options available for the Nissan N7. Thanks to a 200-kW electric motor and a 73-kWh battery, the higher-spec variant has a 635 km CLTC range, while with a 58-kWh battery and a 160-kW motor, the entry-level variant has a 510 km range. The N7, which was priced at about RMB 140,000 (RM 82,500), became sensational in the market very fast.
The N7 received 17,215 orders in China in just one month after debut, and within 50 days, this figure had surpassed 20,000. Nissan surged to the top of the non-Chinese brand EV sales rankings with this impressive result. The N7 could be the turnaround Nissan has been looking for after years of struggling in the Chinese market.

Within the next 12 months, Nissan will begin global sales of the N7, with markets including Southeast Asia.
Within a year, Nissan is set to roll out the N7 abroad. The strategy calls for the delivery of the first batch of export units in 2025, with a first-year goal of 100,000 units throughout the markets of Europe, the Middle East, and ASEAN. Notably, Europe will be the first destination, and the U.S. market is not yet part of the rollout plan. To this end, Nissan has re-registered the recognizable "Primera" trademark in a number of nations, raising the possibility that it will stage a comeback as part of the popular electric vehicle-- N7's worldwide launch.

New Joint Venture by Nissan and Dongfeng to Accelerate N7 Worldwide Rollout
To support its global expansion, Nissan is stepping up the development of an overseas testing center for specific components, aiming to complete 1,200 international certifications by the end of 2025. As a key part of this strategy, a new joint venture has been established — a dedicated export platform co-founded by Dongfeng Motor and Nissan China. This new entity will integrate both parties’ supply chains and financial resources, with a clear mandate to manage the overseas distribution of Nissan models, including the N7.

The N7 might mark a turning point for Nissan
Nissan’s global expansion serves a dual purpose: it helps alleviate overcapacity at its Chinese plants and drives down EV production costs through large-scale production. With the growing demand for affordable electric sedans in the European market and increasing recognition of Nissan across ASEAN countries, this model, which has recently proven successful in China, has the potential to play a key role in helping Nissan resume normal operations.

However, differentiated market strategies are still essential. For instance, Southeast Asia’s high temperatures and humidity necessitate improved battery thermal management, whereas the European market demands strict compliance with more stringent charging regulations.
Nissan is currently evaluating market adaptation strategies through its global dealer network. If the N7 can effectively penetrate the global market under the name “Primera,” it could not only revive a classic lineup but also become a crucial step in helping Nissan reverse its electrification progress.
