Geely becomes the first car company to integrate with Deepseek, will it be popularized to Proton?
JohnFeb 10, 2025, 05:22 PM
[PCauto] Geely recently announced its deep integration of its self-developed large model with the DeepSeek-R1 large model, positioning itself as the first automotive company globally to achieve such an integration with DeepSeek.
In the realm of artificial intelligence, DeepSeek has surpassed the download rankings of ChatGPT on numerous platforms worldwide merely two weeks post-launch, challenging OpenAI's dominance in AI technology.
Its performance is akin to that of OpenAI's ChatGPT. Notably, the overall capabilities of the DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1 large models are reported to surpass those of ChatGPT-4O and ChatGPT-01.
In addition to its superior performance, the operational cost of utilizing the DeepSeek’s “deep thinking” large model is merely 10% of that of ChatGPT. Furthermore, in contrast to the entirely closed-source nature of ChatGPT, DeepSeek operates on an open-source model, facilitating almost anyone's ability to develop integrated applications grounded in the DeepSeek large model.
By merging DeepSeek with FunctionCall large models, the car's voice assistant can more effectively comprehend users' ambiguous intents, approaching the functionality of a genuine human assistant rather than merely executing basic commands such as adjusting the air conditioning, playing music, making calls, or setting navigation routes.
With the integration of DeepSeek, the voice assistant in the vehicle is capable of accurately invoking approximately 2,000 in-car interfaces. Like a real person, it will analyze users' potential needs, thereby providing an array of services such as vehicle control, navigation route planning, proactive conversations, and after-sales support.
Moreover, Proton has established a robust collaboration with Geely. In April 2024, Proton inaugurated a Research and Development (R&D) center in China, which comprises three primary departments, including a data intelligence development center specifically dedicated to big data and artificial intelligence. We have reason to believe that Proton's data intelligence development center will effectively leverage Geely's resources and capitalize on DeepSeek's technology.
