The Thailand Motor Expo 2024 will be held from November 29 to December 10, 2024, and the globally popular Mazda CX-5 is set to make an appearance at the event. Mazda, known for its excellent handling and chassis tuning, is highly favored by young consumers, and its booth will be located at A09.

The first-generation Mazda CX-5 was launched globally in 2012, and in the same year, it won the “2012-2013 Japan Car of the Year” award, among other honors. The current Mazda CX-5 is still in its second generation, which was introduced at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Based on Mazda’s product iteration schedule and various sources, the all-new Mazda CX-5 is expected to make its debut at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show and be released in 2026.

The current Mazda CX-5 in Thailand offers three model variants, with a price range of THB 1,410,000 to 1,850,000. Its fuel consumption is between 6.2 and 8.3L/100km, and its 0-100 km/h acceleration time is between 5.0 and 10.5 seconds. The Mazda CX-5 has been praised for its performance in power and handling, but it falls short in passenger space compared to other vehicles in the same class, making it less ideal for family use.

Mazda’s President and CEO, Akira Maeda, recently announced that the next-generation Mazda CX-5 will be released next year and will feature Mazda’s new hybrid technology, rather than adopting Toyota's hybrid system. It is reported that the complexity of the Mazda CX-5 will be reduced by about 60% compared to the current model, with its specifications streamlined and supply chain efficiency increased by 8%. As a result, we can expect a smaller, simpler range of models.

It is also worth noting that Bermaz will showcase the Mazda CX-5 MS Limited Edition at the upcoming Malaysian Motor Show, where "MS" may refer to Mazdaspeed—though there may not be any actual Mazdaspeed components. The dealership promises aesthetic improvements to the exterior (including body kits) and interior, as well as enhanced driving performance.
