On October 15, 2024, MG ES5 made its debut. The new car has been renamed from "S5" to "ES5", and the new name better highlights its pure electric attributes. MG ES5 is based on SAIC's "Xingyun" pure electric architecture and is positioned as a compact SUV for family use. It offers three options of driving range, respectively 425km, 515km, and 525km.

In terms of exterior design, MG ES5 adopts a family-style sensual design. The upper part of the front face uses a closed shape, with separate light groups on both sides. There are air intakes under the headlights, and the front bumper presents a separated air intake grille shape. The sidelines extend from the far end of the headlight, crossing the entire side, soft and smooth. The design of the rear is simple, and the through tail light creates a strong sense of hierarchy, making the MG brand logo more eye-catching.

Interiorly, MG ES5 uses a large-screen central control and a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel. Thanks to the panoramic sunroof and light color design, the interior atmosphere is brighter and neater. The seats are made of leather material, which balances breathability and a sense of grade. According to official data, the maximum usage area inside the car can reach 4.24㎡.

Power-wise, MG ES5 adopts a rear-wheel-drive form with a single motor, the maximum power of the motor is 125 kilowatts, the maximum torque is 250 newtons•meters, and the official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 8 seconds. The chassis adopts a combination of front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension, providing stable handling performance.

The launch of MG ES5 not only enriches MG's product line, but also provides more choices for consumers. As a compact SUV for family use, MG ES5 performs well in terms of range, design, interior, and power. It's expected to achieve good results in the market in the future. It's reported that the new car may be launched in early 2025, looking forward to its market performance after the launch.

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
