The 45th Thailand Motor Show will be held from March 27 to April 7, 2024. At this motor show, Mitsubishi will exhibit the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV models that were recently launched in Thailand. Therefore, we can briefly learn about these two models.
The Xpander is an MPV model under Mitsubishi that can balance comfort and versatility. Since its debut in Southeast Asia in 2017, it has been popular in ASEAN and is the third best-selling model of Mitsubishi. So what are the highlights of the recently launched Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV models in Thailand?
1. Exterior
Whether it is the Xpander or Xpander Cross HEV model, the overall streamline conforms to the design of a versatile MPV, but the front face streamline looks relatively dynamic and aggressive. The Xpander CrossHEV adds a roof luggage rack and the plastic surrounding parts, giving a stronger off-road atmosphere. The size of the entire car also meets the standard of this type of MPV, with a length, width, and height of 4595mm, 1750mm, and 1750mm respectively.

2. Interior
The interior is much simpler, not like the feeling of being filled with large screens in many new energy vehicle models, but there are also many physical buttons, which may be convenient to use, and the materials and atmosphere are relatively high-grade compared to other models. Although the length of the car is not very long, the wheelbase reaches 2775mm, so the interior space will not be too crowded.

3. Configuration
The configuration of this car is relatively appropriate, mainly its safety configuration like electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA), active steering angle controller (AYC), etc. Nevertheless, the Xpander and Xpander Cross lack intelligent configuration, but functions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are equipped.
4. Dynamic Performance
This HEV hybrid system comes from Mitsubishi's PHEV system, which can balance the daily driving economy and certain driving fun. The car uses a 1.6L engine with the Atkinson system to achieve higher combustion efficiency, which can achieve a maximum power of 95 horsepower and a maximum torque of 134 Nm, while the maximum horsepower of the motor is 116 horsepower, and the maximum torque is 255 Nm. Therefore, under the addition of this powertrain, the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 9.7 seconds. Although this data has no direct relationship with real sports and performance, it is enough for the target consumer group of this car. At the same time, the car is also equipped with 7 driving modes, namely EV PRIORITY, CHARGE, NORMAL, TARMAC, GRAVEL, MUD, and WET. These driving modes can also make the driver more flexible and convenient to make choices, so that the vehicle can better output power, both to achieve economic purposes, but also to cope with the road conditions.

In terms of suspension, the front McPherson of many cars of the same class is used, and the suspension of the rear torsion beam may also be for passing. However, due to the characteristics of HEV, there is almost no engine noise at low speeds, so the comfort will be better. At the same time, the ground clearance also reached 205mm, which can ensure the passability to a certain extent.
