Nissan Kicks e-Power lands in Malaysia, hybrid, with a range of 900 kilometers!

Recently, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) revealed that the highly anticipated Nissan B-segment SUV will be launched in Malaysia in two versions.  The Nissan Kicks will be Nissan's first e-Power model to be launched in Malaysia, with the pricing expected to be announced in December. It is still uncertain whether it will be revealed at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show(KLIMS) in December.

The Nissan Kicks e-Power comes in two versions: VL and VLT, with the latter offering the option of single-tone or two-tone exterior color. The Malaysian market will introduce the first-generation facelift of Nissan Kicks, not the second-generation model that was launched in North America in March this year. This model will only offer the e-Power hybrid system version, and there will be no traditional gasoline engine variant.

Both versions of the model will feature the e-Power hybrid power system, which consists of a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre 3-cylinder gasoline engine (80 PS/108 N·m) and an electric motor (129 PS/280 N·m). The engine only serves as a generator to power the electric motor, which results in a higher output from the electric motor. Therefore, the car feels like an electric vehicle but doesn't require plugging in to charge—simply refuel it like a regular internal combustion engine (ICE), achieving a fuel consumption of 21.7 km/liter and a maximum range of 900 km on a single tank

The Nissan Kicks e-Power will compete with other hybrid models in the same segment, such as the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and the Honda HR-V e:HEV.

Standard features on the base Kicks e-Power VL are:

·Automatic LED headlights

·Auto-folding side mirrors

·Speed-sensing wipers

·17-inch alloy wheels

·Tyre repair kit

·Fabric Zero Gravity seats

·Electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold

·8-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

·7-inch TFT display meter

·6 speakers

·7 airbags

·e-Pedal step

·Intelligent Forward Collision Warning + Intelligent Emergency Braking (IFCW+IEB)

The VLT variant adds the following features:

·2-tone brown and black leather Zero Gravity seats

·360-degree camera

·Intelligent Rear View Mirror

·Intelligent Cruise Control

·Blind Spot Warning

·Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Traz, as a newly launched mid-sized SUV, offers more spacious room and mainstream power compared to small SUVs, but its pricing appears slightly higher than that of Ativa. Ativa, on the other hand, is Perodua's long-time best-selling small SUV with more affordable pricing and a balanced combination of power and tech features.

Will the Toyota Yaris Cross come to Malaysia? If it comes, how much will it sell for?

The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. As a brand with the most comprehensive product line and a strong foundation in both the SUV and hybrid sectors, will Toyota choose the Yaris Cross to participate in this small SUV competition?

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.
