The Paris Motor Show, along with the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, the North American Auto Show in the United States, the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, and the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan, are collectively known as the world's five major international auto shows.

Overview of the Paris Motor Show

As the city of romance, its car show is like fashion shows, always giving people a sense of competition. The exhibition originated from the International Car Salon in 1898, held annually until 1976, and then biennially. It is held from late September to early October each year.

Important Events of the Paris Motor Show

In October 1998, the Paris Motor Show coincided with its centenary. The European car fans long-awaited Paris "Century Auto Show" came in the form of a "Century Car Parade" where exhibition cars were driven on the streets for people to appreciate. French car design is always known for its novel and unique, filled with romance and imagination of the French, always in the pursuit of the most distinctive models, swift speed and the most comfortable car enjoyment, these French hobbies, all in the Paris Motor Show revealed, so that the Paris Motor Show always revolves around the "new" word. At the same time, Paris motor show is also a collection of concept cars, all kinds of novel and weird concept cars often make the audience bright. The first Paris Motor Show was attended by 140,000 people.

In 2000, the number of attendees increased tenfold to 1.4 million, including 8,500 journalists from 81 countries.

In 2002, France's Paris International Motor Show lasted for 16 days, welcomed over 5,000 journalists and 1.25 million spectators from around the world. According to statistics, the Paris Motor Show has a direct income of about 8.5 billion francs and a transaction volume of 150 billion francs.

History of the Paris Motor Show

In 1919, the exhibition was named "Automobile Exhibition." At that time, Citro?n became the first European home-use car because its A-type car was widely popular.

In 1976, to accommodate most auto manufacturers, the Paris Motor Show was set to be held every two years. In contrast to the Frankfurt Car Show, the Paris Car Show takes place in even-numbered years.

In 1988, the Paris Motor Show adopted the new name "Paris Automobile Show." Despite the reduction in the number of auto manufacturers, the number of exhibition cars gradually rose. The actual number of exhibited cars increased from 232 in 1898 to about 1,000 in the same year. About 140,000 people visited the show in 1898, and over a million people flooded into the Paris Automobile Exhibition Hall in 1954. This visit record was not broken until 1994, when a total of 1,027,666 people visited the show.

By the 90s, the exhibition was organized around specific themes. The theme of the 1990 exhibition was "The Age of Youth," showing the different industry's demand in the transportation industry. The theme of the 1992 show was "Cars and People," emphasizing SUVs and luxury cars. The theme of the 1994 show was "Limitless (quote image parameter) Dreams," interspersed with vehicles that had appeared in famous films and television, and a review of racing history. These exhibitions are ever-changing, becoming more rich and creative. Visitors can enjoy every car show through advanced audio-visual, lighting and other high-tech.

At first, the car show played a role in popularizing car knowledge and promoting the development of the car industry. Cars have evolved from a luxury for a few people to a widely accepted mode of transportation. Now the car show mainly plays two roles, it is not only a gathering where people can view car models from around the world, but also a gathering place for experts in the entire auto industry.
