Are Starbucks stores turning into charging stations? Mercedes-Benz creates a new charging mode
AshleyJul 19, 2024, 11:55 AM
On July 17, Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging and Starbucks announced a partnership, in which they would jointly deploy rapid charging stations for electric vehicles at more than 100 Starbucks stores in the United States. This move marks another major breakthrough in the construction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, which will provide a more convenient charging experience for electric vehicle owners.

According to the partnership agreement, the first batch of charging stations will be installed at Starbucks stores along Interstate 5, with charging power of up to 400 kilowatts. Interstate 5 is an important transport corridor spanning Canada and Mexico, and this cooperation will effectively alleviate the shortage of charging piles along this area. In the future, the two parties will install charging stations in more regions based on the actual situation, including the east coast market.
In addition, Mercedes-Benz also announced plans to construct 400 electric vehicle charging hubs in major North American cities and highways, each hub will be equipped with multiple charging plugs to further enhance the coverage and efficiency of the charging network.

Mercedes-Benz says that the company has invested $1 billion in its charging network and built the first charging station in the southern United States in November last year. Currently, more than ten charging stations have been built by Mercedes-Benz in the United States, and it plans to expand its business to nearly half of the U.S. states in the next 12 to 18 months. By the end of 2030, Mercedes-Benz is expected to deploy about 10,000 charging points in the United States, Europe, China and other core markets.
