【PCauto】DENZA has not only launched the D9 in Malaysia but also showcased the DENZA Z9 GT. Known as the "Chinese version of the Porsche Taycan," this luxury shooting brake has garnered attention due to its innovative technology, powerful performance, and affordable price.
The Z9 GT is equipped with the e³ Easy Three-way technology developed by the BYD Group, making it the world's first chassis to integrate three-motor independent drive with rear-wheel steering. The pure electric version of the Z9 GT boasts a maximum power of 710 kW, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The PHEV version offers a maximum power of 640 kW, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed exceeding 240 km/h. Thanks to the e³ rear-wheel steering, the Z9 GT has a minimum turning radius of only 4.62 meters.
The pure electric version of the Z9 GT is equipped with a 100 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC range of 630 km.
The PHEV version combines a 2.0T engine with three electric motors, providing a pure electric range of 201 km and a comprehensive range of up to 1100 km, with a fuel consumption of only 5.6L/100 km.
Inside, the car features a 13.2-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 17.3-inch central control screen, and a co-pilot entertainment screen, supporting Dolby Atmos sound and a 50-inch AR-HUD head-up display. The rear seats support electric adjustment, leg rests, and other functions, paired with a car refrigerator and dual 50W wireless charging.
The Z9 GT is equipped with the DiPilot 300 advanced intelligent driving system, featuring 2 lidars, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, 12 high-definition cameras, and an Orinx chip with a computing power of 254 tops. It can achieve intelligent navigation following, intersection passage, traffic light start-stop, overtaking, intelligent obstacle avoidance, lane changing, lane keeping, cruise driving, and can even drive on roads without lane lines by scanning the road edges with lidar to generate virtual lane lines. The car's parking function is also excellent, with over 300 parking scenarios.
Compared to the Porsche Taycan (starting at approximately RM600,000 in Malaysia), the Z9 GT offers higher configuration at a lower price, making it significantly competitive.
Referring to the price of the DENZA D9 in Malaysia (RM259,000 - RM309,000) and the starting price of the Z9 GT in China (354,800 RMB for the pure electric version and 334,800 RMB for the plug-in hybrid version), the Z9 GT is expected to be priced between RM350,000 and RM450,000 in Malaysia. Of course, this is just my speculation, and the official price will need to be confirmed.
This price range makes it highly attractive in the luxury electric vehicle market, especially for consumers seeking high performance and technological sophistication. The Z9 GT could become a viable alternative to models like the Porsche and BMW i5.
The Malaysian electric vehicle market is still in its infancy, but the government is promoting the adoption of new energy vehicles through policies such as tax incentives. The Z9 GT, with its long range, intelligent features, and high cost-performance ratio, may attract some mid-to-high-end users. However, the lack of brand recognition and the need for improved charging infrastructure could pose short-term challenges to its promotion.
