【PCauto】Perodua Ativa, a popular B-segment SUV, is set to receive a facelift this year under the internal code D25D. Based on the leaked information so far, the upgrade is expected to bring notable enhancements in configuration, exterior styling, and interior quality.
In terms of configuration, Ativa D25D is poised for a significant upgrade. A major highlight will be the overhaul of its infotainment system. It is anticipated that the integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will enable functionalities such as using Google Maps for navigation, streaming music via Spotify, and placing calls with the WhatsApp voice assistant.
On the safety front, the current PSDA (Perodua Smart Drive Assist) system is expected to receive further improvements. To facilitate more precise road condition monitoring and enhanced accident prevention, the facelifted Ativa may feature wider-angle cameras and more responsive radar sensors. There is even speculation that the updated model could be upgraded to offer Level 2 semi-autonomous driving assistance—allowing for adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping under certain conditions, thereby significantly boosting both safety and comfort.
While the exterior of Ativa D25D is not expected to undergo drastic changes, subtle refinements are on the horizon. The front grille might be redesigned to deliver a more distinctive look. Additionally, brand-new wheel designs could not only enhance the vehicle’s aesthetics but also potentially improve its aerodynamic performance. Adjustments to the design of the LED headlamps may also be on the cards, promising sharper visuals and improved illumination.
Color options are also being considered to attract younger buyers, with plans to introduce sportier hues such as blue or grey alongside the existing palette.
Inside the cabin, Ativa D25D is expected to showcase an elevated level of premium soft-touch materials. Updates to the seat fabrics are in the works, and higher-spec models might even feature genuine leather seats. Furthermore, interior details could be refined further, with a more ergonomic layout of the center console to ensure that all buttons and knobs are intuitively positioned for the driver’s convenience.
Currently, Ativa is powered by a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a CVT transmission—a configuration that strikes an excellent balance between fuel economy and performance, much to the delight of consumers. According to available sources, Ativa D25D is likely to continue with this mature powertrain to maintain its standout fuel efficiency.
However, there is also a growing chorus of voices urging Perodua to introduce larger displacement engines or even hybrid variants to cater to a broader range of consumer performance demands. Whether the powertrain will see any new breakthroughs remains to be seen.
The facelift of Perodua Ativa D25D is shrouded in suspense and high expectations. If these enhancements and upgrades come to fruition, there is no doubt that the model will continue to maintain formidable competitiveness in the fiercely contested compact SUV market.
