[PCauto] With the launch of the EX90, the XC90 facelift has also debuted. As a facelit, the XC90 remains built on the original SPA platform with modifications to its exterior and interior.

In terms of pricing, the Volvo XC90 is offered in two variants: one is a mild-hybrid model with a 48V electric motor, while the other is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) model:

· Volvo XC90 B5 MHEV is priced at RM418,888.

· Volvo XC90 T8 PHEV is priced at RM434,888.

On the exterior, the overall design of the XC90 retains the classic look that customers are familiar with. However, the front fascia has seen significant changes, inspired by the EX90, featuring the iconic Thor's Hammer LED headlights, with a more pronounced T-shape that connects with a wider grille. The grille incorporates a pattern with diagonal cross lines, greatly enhancing the front's recognizability and stylish appeal.

The central air intake of the bumper has been widened, while the corner intakes have been vertically oriented to further emphasize the sporty essence of the vehicle. At the rear, the vertical taillights remain, while most other exterior elements essentially carry over, showcasing innovation alongside classic traits.

Stepping inside, the layout maintains the familiar Volvo style, but subtle changes are pleasantly surprising. The instrument panel has been redesigned, featuring a chrome frame at the bottom, updated corner vents, and an enlarged central vent surrounding a larger touchscreen (now upgraded from 9 inches). The wide central console has been optimized with a smaller third cup holder, and ambient lighting has also been upgraded. The wireless charger’s position has been moved forward for easier access by the driver.

In terms of powertrain, the XC90 demonstrates formidable capabilities and efficient energy use. The T8 plug-in hybrid variant is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine, producing 317 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels. Additionally, the rear electric motor generates 145 horsepower and 309 Nm of torque, bringing the total system output to a remarkable 462 horsepower and 709 Nm of torque.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. Moreover, the model’s battery has a capacity of 18.8 kWh, allowing for an electric range of up to 77 kilometers according to the ECE R101 standard, effectively combining powerful performance with eco-friendly travel.

The B5 mild hybrid version also utilizes a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine paired with a 48V electric motor. The engine on its own produces 249 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, while the ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) acts as an auxiliary motor, providing an additional 14 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque, resulting in a total system output of 263 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. This model features a mechanical all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds while delivering a combined fuel efficiency of 8.1 L/100 km, ensuring strong performance alongside commendable fuel economy.

Regarding vehicle configurations, the XC90 includes 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, active air suspension, a head-up display, an 11.2-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, as well as support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features continue to be a strong point for Volvo, offering comprehensive protection with front, side, curtain, and driver’s knee airbags, among other safety measures.

Perodua Traz VS Toyota Yaris Cross, where does the Traz fall short?

Before the official launch of the Perodua Traz, market expectations were actually very high because it shares the same DNGA platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, sharing the same platform does not equate to the same experience, and the Traz's final performance has indeed been disappointing. Perhaps it is precisely because of the delayed launch that it has almost no competitiveness in the current competitive environment.

Will the Toyota Yaris Cross come to Malaysia? If it comes, how much will it sell for?

The launch of Perodua Traz indicates that the market size of small SUVs in Malaysia has been expanding in recent years. However, the question naturally shifts back to Toyota. As a brand with the most comprehensive product line and a strong foundation in both the SUV and hybrid sectors, will Toyota choose the Yaris Cross to participate in this small SUV competition?

Why is the Toyota Sienna so popular with so many people?

In Malaysia, most family MPVs choose Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, or Kia Carnival. These models each have their advantages in luxury, space, or brand influence, but models that truly balance large space, multifunctional practicality, fuel efficiency, and reliability are rarely seen.
