  • Overview

SUVs are popular for various purposes, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 is no exception. Compared to its sedan/hatchback sibling model, the Mercedes-Benz A250, the GLA 250 has its unique advantages.

    Power System

In terms of power delivery, it is slightly smoother than A250. The 0-100km/h test result is 7.6 seconds, and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission does not jitter at low speeds.

    Fuel Consumption

In a combined driving distance of 103.5 kilometers, about 60% are highway driving and 40% are city driving. The tested fuel consumption is 8.6 liters/100 kilometers, and the driving computer displays an average of 9.0 liters/100 kilometers.

    Body Size

It is longer and wider than Honda HR-V, with a wheelbase over 100 mm. Although its shape makes the car look smaller, it has an important advantage in terms of interior space.

    Interior Configuration

The interior space is more spacious than the A-class sedan, with ample knee and headroom in the rear. The seat height is just right and easy to get in and out. The interior features 64 color ambient lighting, dual widescreens, and more. The sound system has good sound quality. Important contact points are leather, soft plastic or suede materials, some panels have a cheap plastic feel.

    Safety System

    Not mentioned

    Driving Experience

Compared with the A250 sedan, the GLA 250 is more refined. There is virtually no jerking when starting, and the transmission performs well at other times. The power is fast enough, the steering is relatively responsive, but it feels more artificial as the speed increases. The brakes are a bit abrupt at low speeds and reassuring at high speeds.

    Riding Comfort

Most of the time the suspension performs well, absorbing most of the road bumps, but there are vibrations when encountering sharp edges. At high speeds, it is not as smooth as the Lexus UX and has more vertical movement. The comfort of the front seats is average, and there may be slight discomfort after long periods of sitting. In terms of interior noise, it is quieter than the A-class sedan.

    Conclusion

As a compact luxury SUV for daily driving, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 has its advantages, but the price is high, at 285,336 MYR.
