2024 Beijing Auto Show: Xiaomi SU7 orders exceed 75,000 units, LeiJun becomes the biggest traffic of the auto show

At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, the Xiaomi SU7 made its first public appearance. Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO, LeiJun, also attended the event, becoming the hottest topic at this year's auto show. At the same time, Lei Jun announced that 75,723 units of the Xiaomi SU7 were reserved 28 days after its launch, with an increase of more than 5,000 in the last four days, and 5781 have been delivered so far.

Lei Jun stated that among the users who reserved the Xiaomi SU7, the percentage of female direct buyers reached 28%. According to preliminary research, considering factors such as gifts or purchasing for family members, it is estimated that the percentage of female car owners will reach 40%-50%. Their reasons for buying cars are: good looking, sun protection, and various storage.

Moreover, BBA users account for 29% of the reserved Xiaomi SU7 users. Supporting wireless CarPlay and allowing iPads in the car has made the Xiaomi SU7 the top choice for many iPhone users, with iPhone users accounting for as high as 51.9%. According to research, many iPhone users are also users of MI products.

Lei Jun also said that they are currently expanding production at full force, and the standard and Pro versions that were originally scheduled for delivery at the end of April have been advanced to April 18. The Pro version will be delivered at the end of May, and it is expected that the delivery in June will exceed 10,000 units. The annual delivery target has been raised to 100,000 units, allowing more users to drive the SU7 as soon as possible.

In order to improve delivery speed and quality, Xiaomi Auto is fully accelerating the site selection and opening of stores, and it is expected to cover 46 cities and a total of 219 stores by the end of the year. The service network will also cover 82 cities and 139 stores.

At the same time, Lei Jun also revealed that the Xiaomi SU7 will have its first OTA in early May, launching wireless CarPlay function as well as end-to-end valet parking and other intelligent driving experiences. The second OTA is planned for the end of May, officially launching the city NOA function. According to the earlier plan, it will first be available in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Wuhan and other ten cities, and will be available nationwide in August.

In addition, Lei Jun also announced the Xiaomi SU7 Max's results on Zhejiang Circuit lap time leaderboard, with a lap time of 1 minute 42 seconds 163, surpassing the Taycan Turbo S and Model S Plaid and becoming the fastest electric car within 500,000 in Zhejiang Circuit. To explore the limit performance of SU7 Max, after it is equipped with the high-performance kit containing the Michelin PILOT SPORT CUP 2R semi-molten tire being developed by Xiaomi, the lap time of SU7 Max has reached 1 minute 38 second 043. In the electric car leaderboard, it is second only to ZEEKR 001FR and Louis Eletre R+.

Review of Xiaomi SU7

Looking back at the Xiaomi SU7, it was first launched on March 28th, with a total of 3 models launched, with a price range of RMB 216,900-229,900. The new car is built based on the Xiaomi Automobile Moderna platform architecture, offering a choice of rear-drive electric motor models and dual-motor four-wheel drive models. The length, width, and height are 4997/1963/1455mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3000mm. The appearance adopts a sedan-style body design, with a low wind resistance coefficient of 0195Cd, and offers a total of 9 car paint colors including Gulf Blue, Rosy Purple, Olive Green, Elegant Gray, Meteor Blue, Cambrian Rock Gray, Diamond Black, Lava Orange, and Pearl White.

The interior is simple and luxurious, equipped with a 16.1-inch 3K resolution control screen, equipped with a powerful OS system, built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, supports Voice Assistant deep car control, five-tone zone voice interaction and AI large model empowerment. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi SU7 offers four interior colour options: Galaxy Grey, Twilight Red, Obsidian Black and Fog Purple.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a full stack of proprietary intelligent driving technologies, including zoom BEV, road large model, super-resolution occupied network and other advanced technologies. In terms of hardware, it will be equipped with 1 lidar, 11 HD cameras, 3 millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars, a total of 29 smart driving sensors to collectively perceive the surrounding environment. In addition, it is also equipped with two Nvidia Orin-X chips, with a total computing power of 508TOPS, all of which are equipped with high-speed navigation, one-key valet parking and intelligent parking assist and other high-level intelligent driving functions as standard.

In terms of power, the Xiaomi SU7 offers both a single motor rear-drive and dual motor four-wheel drives. Where the single motor version produces a maximum power of 220 kilowatts (299 horsepower), peak torque of 400 Nm and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.28 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. The dual motor version has an additional motor has a maximum power of 220 kilowatts at the front and 275 kilowatts at the rear, a system output of 495 kilowatts (673 horsepower), and a system peak torque of 838 Nm. It includes a Boost mode, which provides an instant acceleration of 0.95g, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 10.67 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 265 km/h. In addition, with the addition of Brembo four-piston brake calipers, the braking distance from 100-0 km/h is just 33.3 meters.

In terms of endurance, depending on the different configurations, they are equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs (BYD) from Xiangyang Fudi, and ternary lithium battery packs from CATL. The battery capacities are separately 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh. Among them, 73.6 kWh corresponds to a pure electric range of 700km, 94.3 kWh corresponds to a pure electric range of 830km, and 101 kWh corresponds to a pure electric range of 800km (all under CLTC conditions). In addition, Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with an 800V high-voltage platform and is coupled with CATL's Kirin battery. It can be fully charged in 5 minutes, with a range of 220km, and in 15 minutes, with a range of 510km.

In terms of the chassis, Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with an intelligent chassis, a 50:50 front and rear weight distribution, adopts all-aluminum front double ball joint double-wishbone rear five-link independent form, and is equipped with air suspension, supporting 4 gear height adjustable and stiffness adjustment, as well as equipped with CDC shock absorbers with continuously adjustable damping. According to the official statement, Xiaomi SU7 can achieve road condition adaptation, aerodynamic self-adaptation, cornering posture self-adaptation, and active side wing self-adaptation. The moose test result is 82km/h.
