BYD SONG MAX, a Pure Electric Drive Household MPV, Debuts at the Bangkok Motor Show

At the BYD booth at the 45th Bangkok Motor Show, we found a right-hand drive version of the SONG MAX. Currently, BYD has three models on sale in the Thai market, but it seems that BYD's next step, aside from building its factory in Thailand, is to cover more types of models including SONG MAX. It is a pity that we don't know much detailed information about this car yet.

The SONG MAX has already been launched in the Chinese market for several years. It was initially a petrol model, but after BYD stopped selling petrol models, all SONG MAX models on sale are now PHEV. However, the SONG MAX displayed at the exhibition is quite different from the models currently on sale in China, which is apparent from the design. And it uses 100% electrical power rather than PHEV.

Concerning its exterior, the design style of the right-hand drive version of the SONG MAX appears closer to that of the ATTO3, while the Chinese market version of the SONG MAX retains the earlier Dragon Face design. The design of the right-hand drive version is more innovative. However, the overall silhouette and rear-end design of the entire vehicle remain similar to the Chinese market model, even the design of the rear and the shape of the integrated taillights are the same.

For reference, the SONG MAX on the Chinese market has body dimensions of 4710×1810×1690mm and a wheelbase of 2785mm. However, due to the huge difference in the power system, it's not surprising that the car exhibited has a different space layout. Unfortunately, the interior of this car is not open to the public at this exhibition. Nonetheless, as a family MPV, its interior design would probably not implement such a bold style as ATTO3, but a rotating center control screen won't be absent.

A 100% electrically driven MPV is a highlight in itself. For more information about BYD SONG MAX, we will continue to follow.
