BYD creates another milestone! The world's first 9 millionth electrified car rolls off the line!
RobertSep 26, 2024, 11:15 AM
On September 25, the 9-millionth new energy vehicle off-line ceremony of BYD, an electrification automaker from China, was held at the Shenshan factory in China. The offline model is the million-class RMB pure electric performance supercar YANGWANG U9. It is worth mentioning that BYD is the first automaker in the world to reach the 9 millionth electrification vehicle offline, and it is only a little more than 2 months after the 8 millionth electrification vehicle went offline, which shows the outstanding capacity speed and sales performance of the BYD factories.

YANGWANG U9 is the first mass-produced model in China to use carbon fiber body structure components, using the largest single-body shell carbon cabin in the world. The carbon fiber material used has a strength of 5 to 6 times that of steel. In terms of power, it will be equipped with a four-motor system, the maximum power of the four motors is all 240kW, and the combined power is 960kW, that is, 1306 horsepower, peak torque 1680N·m, 0-100km/h acceleration 2.36 seconds, 0-400 meters acceleration 9.78 seconds, and the top speed 309km/h.

As one of the important measures for Malaysia to achieve the zero carbon emission target by 2050, the government strongly encourages the development of the electrification automobile industry. From January 1, 2022, a series of tax concessions for imported and locally assembled pure electric vehicles will be introduced, specifically including: exempting import and domestic taxes on imported pure electric vehicles; exempting domestic taxes and sales taxes on locally assembled pure electric vehicles, and exempting import taxes on their parts. BYD officially entered the Malaysian passenger car market as early as December 2022, launching the BYD ATTO 3 electric vehicle model locally.

BYD currently sells six models in Malaysia, respectively BYD E6, BYD Bao 5, BYD TANG, BYD ATTO 3, BYD Dolphin and BYD Seal, with all local sales handled by Sime Darby Beyond Auto (SDBA).
