BYD Sealion 05 DM-i officially debuts, a new choice for compact plug-in hybrid SUV!

On September 6, the official images of the new model from BYD, the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i, were officially released. The car is positioned as a compact plug-in hybrid SUV, equipped with the fifth-generation DMi technology and is the second model launched by BYD following the BYD Sealion 07 EV.

In terms of appearance, the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i continues the "Ocean aesthetics" design concept, the overall silhouette of the car is full and powerful, and the headlights, wheel hubs, and other parts all incorporate elements of the sea. The front face adopts a ripple design of waves, which has evolved from the classic "X" shape of "Ocean aesthetics". The wide front grille and chrome decoration arranged in dot array on both sides are like the waves that sea lions surge forward in the water, full of dynamism.

The new BYD Sealion 05 DM-i's new Huihaifeng front headlights have a rigid and simple shape that complements the front face style. The lamp chamber has elements corresponding to the chrome decoration of the front grille, creating a strong sense of technology. The vertical lines on the top of the LED light group contrast with the horizontal lines on both sides of the headlight, creating a strong sense of detail. Coupled with the smoked lamp chamber, it shows a firm and deep visual effect, further enhancing the overall momentum of the car.

The BYD Sealion 05 DM-i side view shows the car's floating roof design coupled with silver metallic trim around the windows, adding a fashionable sense to the car. Meanwhile, the full and rich lines of the car, along with the sculpted waistline and skirt line, are naturally smooth, emphasizing the powerful tension of the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i.

The rear of the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is layered and features a through-tail light design. When illuminated, it is highly recognizable, with the left and right lamp groups connected by very thin linear light strips, creating a miraculous visual impression of a seamless horizon, perfectly echoing the front face. Additionally, the new rear logo uses a brand new BYD English logo.

In terms of body size, according to previous announcements from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the length, width, and height of the Sealion 05 DM-i are 4710/1880/1720mm, with a wheelbase of 2712mm.

For power, the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i is equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM technology, using a 1.5L engine dedicated to plug-in hybrids, an EHS hybrid system, and a power blade battery specific to plug-in hybrids. The maximum power of the engine is 74 kW, and the maximum power of the drive motor is 120 kW. Therefore, it is expected that the new car will bring a big surprise in terms of fuel consumption and endurance.
