BYD Sealion 7 will be launched on November 14th, challenging Tesla Model Y!

The BYD Sealion 7 will be launched in Malaysia on November 14, announced by Sime Darby Motors (SDM). This confirmation comes after the company accepted pre-orders for this electric SUV in Malaysia for two days. Sime Darby Motors also revealed that it will hold a Sealion 7 display event at The Exchange 106 in Kuala Lumpur from November 15 to 17.
SDM, the distributor company of BYD, has made no mention of the information on the BYD Sealion 7 model that will be released in Malaysia, so as to keep a surprise for the press conference. However, rawly mention was made in the announcement on their Malaysian BYD website about the specifications of the Sealion 7 Performance.
We believe this is SDM's official confirmation that the Performance model will be on the market, but it is still unclear whether it is the European version equipped with a 91.3kWh battery or the Hong Kong version equipped with a 82.56kWh battery.
The range distance of different versions of BYD Sealion 7 also varies, with the European version having a WLTP range of 550 kilometers, while the Hong Kong version has a slightly lower 500 kilometers WLTP range. Not only that, the European Sealion 7 Performance is based on e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with a 800V architecture, supporting DC charging speeds up to 230kW. On the other hand, the Hong Kong version is based on the older non-Evo e-Platform 3.0, with a 400V architecture, and its DC charging speed is limited to 150kW.
Despite this, the overall performance of the two versions of BYD Sealion 7 is the same because they both provide the same maximum power output of 390kW (523hp), a torque of 690Nm, and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. The BYD Sealion 7 has a body length of 4,830 mm, a width of 1,925 mm, a height of 1,620 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y.
