Kuala Lumpur Time May 15th, BYD's first new energy pickup truck——SHARK was officially released, and the price in Mexico was announced. With two models launched, the price range is 899980-969800 Mexican pesos. The new car is based on the DMO super hybrid off-road platform, it is equipped with a 1.5T dual-motor plug-in hybrid system. And the system's comprehensive power is 430 horsepower, the acceleration from 0 to 100km/h only takes 5.7 seconds, and the comprehensive cruising range is 840km.

In terms of appearance, the BYD SHARK is designed by BYD's global design director——Wolfgang Eiger's team, the team adopted a rough and rugged design style, with a square overall shape and a burly figure. Its front face is equipped with a large size "BYD" brand logo, the front light group is designed in a rectangular shape, and it is complemented by a through-type LED light strip on the engine cover, which looks full of momentum. In addition, the lower part of the front is equipped with a silver off-road style bumper, further highlighting the tough elements.

The side of the body has a strong line design, with blackening treatment for the A-pillar and B-pillar, which highlights a strong sense of power. Meanwhile, the new car is also equipped with elements such as gantry, black wheel eyebrows, side pedals, roof racks, and two-color wheel hubs.

The rear of the car adopts a through-type LED tail light design. With a vertical light group layout on both sides of the tail light group, and the middle position of the rear door is marked with the word "BYD", echoing the front face design. It is worth mentioning that the BYD SHARK's charging port/discharge port and fuel filling port are located on both sides of the gantry.

In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the BYD SHARK are 5457/1971/1925mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 3260mm, and a common double-row seat layout for passenger pickups. For comparison, Ford F-150, its length, width and height are 5930/2199/1922mm, with a wheelbase of 3694mm.

In terms of interior decoration, BYD SHARK's design style balances fashion and toughness. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD dashboard and a 12.8-inch center control screen. The four-spoke steering wheel looks very powerful. On the premise of overall black decoration, a small amount of orange embellishment adds a youthful and sporty breath. In addition, we can see that a series of toggles/buttons are equipped behind the gear stick, similar to the style of the Fangchengbao series.

In terms of configuration, the new car will be equipped with a 12-inch W-HUD head-up display system, front seat ventilation/heating, 50W wireless phone charging, 540-degree panoramic image, L2-level assisted driving, 8 speakers, mobile phone NFC key, App-controlled car, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile phone interconnection, VTOL external power supply and other functions.

In terms of power, BYD SHARK is built based on the DMO super hybrid off-road platform, which is an off-road platform mainly driven by electricity. It was first applied to the Fangchengbao Bao5 model. And the DMO platform includes a new hybrid non-bearing structure, dual-layer high-security blade battery, off-road dedicated vertical EHS electric hybrid system, the world's first off-road dedicated rear-drive electric assembly, off-road dedicated vertical engine, and compatible Yun Che-P intelligent hydraulic body control system.

According to the information announced on the official website, BYD SHARK is equipped with a 1.5T engine and electric motor plug-in hybrid system, and with a combined output power of over 430 horsepower. The 0-100km/h acceleration time is 5.7 seconds, and the low-electricity fuel consumption is 7.5L/100km.

As for the endurance, it is equipped with a 29.58 kilowatt-hour BYD iron phosphate blade battery, with an NEDC pure electric endurance of 100 kilometers, an NEDC comprehensive fuel economy of 840 kilometers. The charging time from 30% to 80% is 20 minutes. It also supports 6 kilowatt external discharging, 20 kilowatt on-site charging, V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging rescue and other functions.

In terms of the chassis, the BYD SHARK adopts a non-load-bearing body structure, equipped with front and rear double-wishbone independent suspension. And it is also equipped with CTC battery chassis integrated technology and virtual differential lock. It can provide three driving modes: sand, mud, and snow, and has a towing capacity of 2500kg, a load capacity of 835kg. Its approach angle and departure angle are 31° and 19.3° respectively, and the ground clearance when fully loaded is 210mm.
