On June 13, we obtained the declaration map of BYD SONG L DM-i from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The new car is positioned as a C-segment SUV with a wheelbase of 2782mm and will be equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM technology. In the future, it will form a dual car structure with the current SONG Pro DM-i and will be sold at the same time. As a reference, the price range of BYD SONG Pro DM-i Glory Edition is 109,800-159,800 RMB.

From the declaration map, the front face of SONG L DM-i has been replaced with BYD's latest 2.0 design language. The narrow and long lamp group is connected to the grille, and the large-size ventilation openings are equipped below for internal combustion engine cooling, forming a significant difference from the current SONG Pro DM-i.

The body side styling is simpler, it adoptes a hidden door handle design, further optimizing the drag coefficient. The waistline runs from the front to the back of the car, which has a strong three-dimensional sense, and the silver decoration strip above the window extends to the D-pillar of the vehicle. In addition, the new car offers 18-inch and 19-inch wheel hubs to choose from.

The rear continues to adopt the through-type tail light design, but the shape of tail light has been redesigned. The interior contains "Chinese knot" elements, it is similar to QIN L DM-i, and BYD's iconic "Build your dream" English Slogan has been removed. The new BYD logo is used instead, and it adopts a luminous design, which is more recognizable. In addition, the rear spoiler adopts a two-section design, enhancing the sense of sportiness.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the Song L DM-i are 4780/1898/1670mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2782mm. In comparison, the length, width and height of the SONG Pro DM-i are 4738/1860/1710mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2712mm.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM-i plug-in hybrid system. The maximum power of the engine is 74 KW, the maximum power of the motor is160 KW, and the maximum speed can reach 180km/h. This system first made its debut on the BYD QIN L and Seal 06, with an NEDC-working condition electric oil consumption of only 2.9L/100km and a combined range of 2100 kilometers in full fuel and electricity state. The chassis uses a MacPherson front plus four-link independent rear suspension.
In terms of price, the QIN L's starting price is 20,000 RMB more expensive than the QIN PLUS Glory Edition. This pricing strategy is expected to continue in the SONG L DM-i model, so it is personally speculated that the starting price of the SONG L DM-i could be around 129,800 RMB.
