[PCauto] At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, BYD's premium brand YangWang made a stunning debut with its new model, the YangWang U8L. As an extended version of the YangWang U8, this vehicle has gained significant attention due to its upgrades in multiple aspects and will be launched in China in the second half of this year.
In terms of dimensions, the YangWang U8L measures 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. Compared to the standard version, the U8L's body length (excluding the spare tire) has increased by 372 mm, while the width is reduced by 1 mm, the height lowered by 9 mm, and the wheelbase extended by 200 mm. The additional length is primarily used in the rear section of the vehicle, and the significantly extended wheelbase enhances its interior space.

In terms of exterior appearance, the YangWang U8L retains the overall design style of the U8. Its matrix-style "Ding" headlights draw inspiration from the ancient Chinese Ding (a ceremonial bronze vessel), paired with a dot-matrix grille, showing a perfect blend of technology and artistry.

The Onyx Black and Solar Gold dual-tone paint scheme is inspired by the traditional Chinese "Black Lacquer with Gold Tracing" craftsmanship. The parallel waistline division creates a striking floating layered effect, further enhancing its luxury appeal. Notably, the U8L features an oracle bone script-inspired golden emblem, crafted from 24K solid gold.

The 23-inch eight-hole forged wheels, combined with floating center caps, showcase lightweight elegance whether stationary or in motion. The minimalist wheel arches, painted in body color, feature a stylish and luxurious design. At the rear, the U8L adopts a dual-section electric tailgate with top-and-bottom split opening, making loading and unloading more convenient. The hidden taillight design adds a touch of refined subtlety.

In terms of interior space layout, the U8L changes from the U8's two-row 5-seater configuration to a 3-row 6-seater layout. The second row of aviation-grade seats is made of Nappa leather, supports 140-degree angle adjustment along with heated, ventilated, and massaging leg rests, delivering first-class comfort. The third row offers 820mm of legroom, significantly alleviating the cramped feeling of rear seats.
The trunk capacity has been expanded from the U8’s 480L to 1,860L, which can even transform into a double bed in camping mode. The wraparound cabin is adorned with suede, high-gloss lacquer trim, and ambient lighting, creating a driving feeling which combines technology with luxury.
Additionally, the U8L has 48 storage compartments throughout the cabin, including a new jade-patterned hidden console compartment that combines practicality and luxury. The 5G intelligent cabin, powered by a Qualcomm 4nm chip, ensures smooth and convenient operation for the driver.

In terms of powertrain, the YangWang U8L is equipped with an extended-range hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine and electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 880 kW and a maximum torque of 1,280 N·m. The vehicle adopts the e⁴ platform and YunNian-P system, ensuring both outstanding power performance and excellent handling stability.
For intelligent driving assistance, the YangWang U8L adopts the DiPilot 600 system, incorporating 3 LiDAR units, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 high-definition cameras. With dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips providing 508 TOPS of computing power, the system can achieve various functions including automated parking, remote parking, E⁴ smart parking, as well as highway and urban navigation pilot assistance.

The current official suggested retail price for the YangWang U8 in China is RM660,227, while YangWang ,with larger body size and more abundant configurations is expected to be priced higher than this figure.
