[PCauto] On October 9, 2025, local time in Brazil, BYD's factory in Camaçari, Bahia witnessed a landmark event: the 14-millionth electric vehicle officially rolled off the production line.
The Song Pro, debuting as the first hybrid model in the South American market, underscores BYD's advancing global presence. Its launch was graced by the presence of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who publicly confirmed his order for the vehicle.
BYD Has Been in The Brazilian Market for 11 Years
The BYD Song Pro, as a special edition model for the 30th United Nations Climate Conference (COP30), is equipped with BYD's latest hybrid technology, designed to align with Brazil's specific energy needs.
The launch not only strengthens BYD's product portfolio in the South American market but also demonstrates its innovative capabilities in the hybrid vehicle sector.
At the ceremony, Wang Chuanfu reflected on BYD's more than 11-year journey in the Brazilian market, noting that BYD's electric buses are already operating across Brazil, and the company has now amassed a customer base of over 170,000 vehicle owners in the market.
According to official data, BYD has been the sales champion in Brazil's electric vehicle market for two consecutive years. Between January and September 2025, the company sold more than 77,000 units, with September alone seeing sales exceed 10,000 vehicles. These figures underscore its strong performance and growing dominance in the local market.

BYD Will Produce More Models in Brazil Bahia State Factory in the Future
The Brazil Bahia State Factory, as BYD's important production base in Latin America, has been steadily expanding its production scale since the first model, Seagull, rolled off the assembly line in July 2025. The Song Pro and Destroyer 05 are also scheduled for local production
A tangible sign of this deep localization is "BYD Avenue"—the new name for the road in front of the plant, now the first street in South America to bear the company’s name.

In addition, BYD has established a comprehensive industrial chain in Brazil, covering passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and rail transit, such as the São Paulo Metro Line 17 Monorail project and the delivery of pure electric articulated buses—these initiatives collectively strengthen BYD's localization strategy in the region.
BYD Sustains Strong Global Growth Momentum
BYD has become the first car manufacturer in the world to achieve the 14-millionth electric vehicle milestone. From the 10-millionth vehicle rolling off the production line in November 2024 to the 14-millionth in October 2025, it took just about 10 months, with a growth rate far exceeding the industry average.
The rollout of BYD's 14 millionth electric vehicle stands as a milestone that not only demonstrates its strength in technological innovation and market expansion but also serves as a model for the global automotive industry's green transition.
Despite heightened trade barriers against Chinese electric vehicles, such as the EU imposing a 45% tariff and the US a 100% tariff, BYD has still managed to achieve breakthroughs in overseas markets due to its strong product competitiveness.
Take the UK market as an example: sales soared by 880% in September 2025 compared to the same period last year.

To Mitigate the Impact of Tariffs, BYD Accelerates the Establishment of Overseas Factories
The company is expanding its footprint with factories in Hungary, Uzbekistan, Thailand, and Brazil, while also building its own fleet of roll-on ships to support global transportation.
By adopting this localized production strategy, BYD gains dual benefits: lowered trade exposure and advancements in regional employment and technology transfer.
Looking ahead, BYD aims to provide 30 customized electric vehicles for the COP30 in Belém, Pará, Brazil, in 2025 for low-carbon transportation. After the event, the vehicles will be donated to local schools and public institutions.
BYD's global strategy integrates international operations with deep localization, aiming to accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation of the worldwide automotive industry.
