【PCauto】Geely Xingyuan is poised to make its debut in Malaysia as the next new offering under Proton.

Initially launched in China last September, Geely Xingyuan is a B-Segment hatchback, characterized by its dimensions: 4135 mm in length, 1805 mm in width, 1570 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2650 mm, rendering it slightly larger than Myvi.

Constructed on the GEA electric architecture, Xingyuan features a rear-wheel-drive system and is available in two motor power configurations, delivering outputs of 58 kW and 85 kW. The total horsepower generated by these electric motors is 79 hp and 116 hp, respectively, with accompanying torque figures of 130 N·m and 150 N·m. Notably, the higher power variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds.

Regarding range capabilities, Xingyuan is offered with two CLTC range options of 310 km and 410 km, which correlate with battery capacities of 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh, respectively.

The interior of Geely Xingyuan is adorned with soft materials and leather accents, featuring a 14.6-inch central display, accompanied by an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument panel. It operates through the Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit, which supports customizable wallpaper for the home screen, shortcut operations on a Dock bar, customizable quick access cards, and a SmartBar for swift application switching. Moreover, it incorporates full-screen gesture control for enhanced user experience.

Upon its introduction to the Malaysian market, Geely Xingyuan may be branded as eMAS 5, with its power system likely to align with that of the Chinese version. Anticipated specifications include a battery pack of approximately 40 kWh, supporting a range of around 400 kilometers, thereby catering to the needs of the majority of consumers.

Given the success of previous Proton models launched in collaboration with Geely, such as Proton X70, X50, and X90, which have garnered significant market recognition for their superior quality and cost-effectiveness, the inclusion of Geely Xingyuan in the Proton lineup is expected to sustain this positive trajectory.
