In Q1 2025, BYD DENZA D9 is set to land in Malaysia, adding a new member to the MPV market!

Recently, Eagle Zhao, the managing director of BYD Malaysia, announce that BYD plans to launch its electric sub-brand DENZA in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2025. howeve he dosen't tell the specific models. However, it is highly probable that the Denza D9, which debuted in Malaysia in July of this year, would be the model entering the market.
Let's take a look based on the current price and specifications of the DENZA D9 in the Chinese market. The price of latest DENZA D9 in the Chinese market is between 339,800 and 449,800 RMB, making it a high-end model, hence its price in Malaysia should fall within this range.
In terms of appearance, the DENZA D9 maintains the overall design of the model, with the main addition being a dazzling purple exterior colour, which adds to its premium feel. With the application of the "π-Motion" aesthetic, it features a large front air inlet grille that melds seamlessly with the headlights on either side, stretching the visual width of the front face and creating a strong presence, certainly no less than Toyota's MPV model Toyota Alphard.


Depending on different power, DENZA D9, will offer differential grille styles, where DM-i models opt for a dot-matrix style chrome grille, presenting a diamond-cut effect, and quite exquisite. The EV electric style adopts a waterfall-look chrome grille which is more imposing and businesslike.

The side view of the DENZA D9 is very flat, with a typical traditional MPV shape, which will be more in line with the aesthetic standard of the public. Moreover, this vehicle still retains the silver trim in the D-pillar area, adding a bit of dynamic breath and making it not so monotonous. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of DENZA D9 are 5250/1960/1920mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3110mm, which is at the upstream level in the whole medium and large MPV market.

For the interior, the DENZA D9 is equipped with a 15.6-inch floating center control large screen, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a dual-radiation flat-bottomed steering wheel and a crystal material gear mechanism, that still presenting a simple and luxurious style.

In terms of intelligence, the DENZA D9 is equipped with the DENZA Link intelligent vehicle system, with a built-in 6nm chipset, supports four-zone voice recognition, continuous voice recognition, speak as you see, 5G network, OTA upgrade, and mobile APP remote control functions, etc. At the same time, the new car has added a game center APP, custom wake-up words and other functions, and the multiple intent commands have also been optimized, and multiple commands can be executed quickly at one time.


In terms of power, DENZA D9 continues to offer DM-i super hybrid and EV pure electric two power modes. The DM-i model is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine and drive motor dedicated to Xiao Yun-plug-in hybrid. The maximum power of the engine is 102 kilowatts. The maximum power of the front motor of the two-wheel drive model is 170 kilowatts, and the maximum torque is 340 N·m. The system's comprehensive power is 211 kilowatts and 254 kilowatts respectively, and the system's comprehensive torque is 571 N·m. The official 100-kilometer acceleration time is 9.5 seconds, and the power loss fuel consumption is 6.1L/100km.
The DENZA D9 all-wheel drive model adds a 45 kilowatt maximum power and 110 N·m peak torque rear drive motor on the basis of the two-wheel drive model. The comprehensive power of the system is 299 kilowatts, and the comprehensive torque is 681 N·m. The official 100-kilometer acceleration time is 7.9 seconds, and the power loss fuel consumption is 6.7L/100km.
As for the cruising range of DENZA D9, the DM-i model offers a lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack with a capacity of 20.39 kWh and 40.06 kWh. The CLTC pure electric cruising range is 103km and 200km respectively. In the case of full fuel and electricity, the longest CLTC combined cruising range is 1050km.

The DENZA D9 EV pure electric model is built on the e-platform 3.0 and is equipped with an eight-in-one motor. The maximum power of the front motor of the two-wheel drive model is 230 kilowatts, and the peak torque is 360 N·m. The official 100-kilometer acceleration time is 9.5 seconds. The four-wheel drive model adds a rear motor with a maximum power of 45 kilowatts and a peak torque of 110 N·m on this basis, with a system aggregate power of 275 kilowatts and a combined torque of 470 N·m. The official 100-kilometer acceleration time is 6.9 seconds.
As for the range of the DENZA D9, the entire series is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack with a capacity of 103.36 kWh. The CLTC working condition pure electric cruising range is 620km and 600km (four-wheel drive) respectively. In addition, the new car supports a maximum charging power of 166 kilowatts, charging for 10 minutes for an extension of 150km, and 30%-80% charging time is 30 minutes. It also supports a maximum 6-kilowatt external discharge function to meet outdoor camping needs.

In terms of chassis, DENZA D9 adopts the form of independent suspension with front Macpherson and rear multi-link, and is equipped with Yunche C intelligent damping body control system. By controlling the electromagnetic valve of the shock absorber, it can realize stepless adaptive adjustment of the damping, taking into account both comfort and control.
